I moved here from outside of Battle Creek and it was the nicest apartment I could afford and it included heat, water, and garbage. It's a safe area and there were no extra fees like The Landings. However, for the price I think you can do a lot better. The carpet was pretty worn out. It should have been replaced before I moved in. Even my mom noticed the carpet was old. Some of the neighbors were very loud. Fighting and playing loud rap music. I called the after hours number to complain and I never got a call back. The parking lot was very slippery/dangerous in the winter. I had a terrible problem with spiders. It was really gross. They came in a sprayed all the time but it would only help for about 2 weeks. I think it may have been because it was a ground floor apartment. I spoke with other people who lived on the 2nd floor and they had no spider probs. There is a pond so they have these geese that crap all over the place. So when you are walking on the sidewalk you have to watch your step. I know they can't control the geese but they could at least wash down the sidewalks once a week or something. Watch out for the sprinklers too they will get you. Pine Knoll is very picturesque from the outside and the model they show you is very nice. That's why I picked it. But when I got my apartment I was slightly disappointed at how much I was paying for a place that was just average. It's not a bad place to live but you can find better for the same or less money.
