Moving here from Grand Haven MI, where we(they) have the Coast Guard Festival. I was a little apprehensive about the safty of the neighborhood, but I've had no problems. I have seen a man walking with his 4 young kids at 11:00pm. I've seen young girls walking around the neighborhood. I've been told that the area used to be crime ridden but the city is trying to clean up the area. I give them the benefit of the doubt. All the local people seem very polite and personable. I have lived in much worse areas on the north east side of detriot in my younger days, bullet holes in the windows type area, but that was a long time ago. I have a 10 yr old son who still lives with his mom in GH. I look forward to having him over for visits.
As per my apartment itself, 90% of the problems I had were taken care of quickly, I don't know what the heating bills are going to be like here in the winter hopefully not bad. My air conditioning didn't work when I moved in, waiting to get corperate ok to install a new unit. It took a while to get it fixed but I chock that up to office red tape.
Wifi Cafe' ever since I moved in, I kept hearing "it might open next week" it still is not open, but I know its close, there are functions held in there for the residents. they are waiting on furniture now, the furniture they had bought was not up to par, again I blame this all on red tape.
I am happy with my apartment. I do wish they offered garages, like they do back home, but I guess thats not the norm around here. I like the location, Beadle lake rd takes me to the stores and mall. Columbia rd takes me to work. Main st turns into m89 which takes me towards Grand Haven. I have been waiting to hang pictures, incase I move, but if I do it would prolly be to a bigger apt here at river oaks. Management seems very sincere and honest, if they are blowing smoke,.. they're doing a fine job of it cause I am happy LOL.
