Watch this place for the old Bait n Switch gimmick!

I lived at Harbour Club for about 11 months. Why 11 months, and not 12' I couldn't take it anymore. My car was broken into, maintenance staff let themselves into your apartment when you are not there, and the apartment I lived in, was not the one I was shown. Let me explain this carefully to anyone considering this place. We were shown a nice empty two bedroom apartment on the golf course with a lake view. We were told our apartment was just like this one, and in fact, just one building away. We loved the model we were shown, and the staff was extremely motivated to get us to move in. We set the date. Well, about two months later, my wife and I, with our 1 year old daughter pack everything we own into a U-Haul, ready to get into our "new" apartment. What we were shown after we signed our lease, was in the location we were told, but the place was an absolute dump, and not fit for anyone to move into. Even though we had set this move-in date two months in advance, we were suddenly told by the useless manager that we could take it, as is (stained carpets, dingy, smoke stained walls, filthy bathroom, with maintenace tools still inside the apartment) or accept another aprtment. With everything we owned in the back of a truck, what choice did we have' We took the other apartment. What a mistake!!! They gave us, location-wise, the worst apartment in the complex. Third floor (nice for a pregnant wife and 1-year old daughter) above crack-heads who partied at all hours. Oh, not to mention it is at the corner of Denton Rd. and I-94...horrible traffic noise constantly, and it is right across the street from hillbilly bar, Diamond Back Saloon. So every night, imagine the noise from drunken revelers on their Hrley Davidsons, roaring to the expressway, not to mention all the police cars constanly dispatched to the bar. My daughter never slept well, with the noise and lights, which we did our best to block out. And beware sick building syndrome...look into the vents of the building, and see piles of dust and debris.
And don't bother complaining. Nothing is resolved by their useless staff.
So, we broke our lease, and now are facing the consequences when they sued us, unless the judge determines that the lease was invalid because of the bait and switch tactic. I am using as much of this negative energy on this sight as possible as evidence in our case against them. Save yourself the hassle...go elsewhere...NOW!
If anyone else has experienced the same, please reply to my email address. I'd love to talk to you!

I posted a response a few years back. I tried to get out of my lease because a job transfer from the government and a 2 months notice. I still had to pay the overly priced rent for 6 months while i paid rent for another apartment in La. The manager was not interested in releasing me from the lease. All they had to do was rent the apartment to someone else. (hint from a lawyer, if they rent the apartment they can't make you keep the lease).
