We have lived here for 3 years and in that time our heat has gone out 3 times. We have to use heavy duty plastic to cover the sliding doors plus use wood across the middle because the wind blows in so bad in the winter it bows that plastic out. At one point, the wind was blowing so hard it snapped the wood that was across the plastic. We had to put in a bottom weather strip on the door so the cold air would not blow in. Now we are having to put up with banging water pipes that maintanance says doesn't bang. Tell that to me at 1:00am when the pipes are banging so loud that it wakes me up. Over Christmas all the apartments in the complex had their power restored except for our building and the three around us. This is not the first time that this has happend. We have gone days without power. Now let's talk about the waste of money that they put into painting the carports. We had to pick the paint chips off of one our cars this morning. Yep, great place to live....Look at the picture below and make your own decision as to whether you would choose to live here.

You should call the office and speak with management.

It was your choice to put up the plastic. Sliding glass doors are drafty, that is a fact of life. Winter in Michigan is cold, and heating bills are going to be expensive. I'm not taking managements side here, but it seems to me that if you took the right approach with the office they would fix all your problems. It's just that the one thing I have never had a problem with here is the Maintenance department. Maybe you should try a different approach? Either way, good luck, it looks like you have a pretty crappy maintenance problem on your hands.

Of course the maintance department is good unless you have to deal with the manager. As for the banging pipes, I don't think the two residents liked the idea of waking up to two inches or more of water in their apartment. I understand that it was the townships problem and not the management's problem, but you would think that after having to be out of the apartment for a week while they fixed the apartment and then to come home and find out that they had left both the air conditioning and the heat on, I think they have a right to be upset. Also, the resident will not get a break on the rent for the inconvience of being out of a place to live. Yes, it was our choice to put the plastic up, but we had contacted management regarding the patio doors when we first moved in. It's just not a little bit of cold that comes in, it's non-stop air that comes through the doors. I've lived with patio doors for years and have never had the problems that I have had with these.

Good luck on getting to speak with the manager, she is too busy shopping online or making comments that it is not her place to speak or deal with the residents

Obviously you live by a lake... It is colder by the water... Maybe you should have thought of that before moving in.
