Former Residents of Harbour Club

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I lived in Harbour Club for 6 years in 2 different Apartments. There is good and bad, but mostly good. If moving here I recommend the Lake view apartments, but they do cost more and the electric bills are considerably higer than the rest of the apartments. I know, I lived in both. Additionally you pay two water bills. The rental office will not tell you this. One is paid along with your rent. Our rent for a spacious upgraded 1 bedroom apt on the lake with lots of closet space and a washer and dryer was $781 30 for water..total $809. Plus, your Electric Bill had two sections. One was for hot water and one for what they called "residental space heating." So you paid on average of $50 or more for Water and to heat it, which is more than what we pay for our 1300 square foot house we just bought. Our DTE (Electric) bill ran $200-$250 per month during the winter months. It was brutal. When I talked to management about this, they blew me off, but they know better because one of they guys who works in the rental office, lived a few doors down from me. I also had an issue with pet control. I am not a pet owner. I feel it's ok to have them, but the residents at this complex abuse the pet policy. Most of the pet owners had multiple animals. My next door neighbor had 4 cats. One neighbor had 2 cats and 2 dogs. Not appropriate for an apartment. When we moved out. We got most of our deposit back, with the exception of the $50 deposit for the exercise room. The assistant manager, who is fairly new (not there when I moved in) tried to deny us of our deposit even though I turned the key in. After several passionate, almost irate calls to the district manager and a discussion with the property manager, we were given a $50 gift card, that they made us drive 45 minutes to pick up. They would not mail it to us. I appreciated them giving us the gift card, but am still a little bitter that I had to go through so much to get what was rightfully ours. Now that was the Bad. Here's the good. The grounds are well kept up. If things go wrong, maintenance is very responsive. I never had any problems with break ins or safety. I even lived alone and never felt unsafe. The location is good. The lakeview is great and the complex has great ammenities (inexpensive golf and beautiful course, tennis courts, pool, 24 hr exercise room with good equipment.) The new management does alot in trying to promote resident activities (happy hour, and other events.)Tyler and Heather in the office are very nice. Everyone else is new.
