HATE THE MANAGEMENT

My 11 1/2 month stay at Southport was not the greatest. They do have these weird looking bugs that creep in occasionally ( I think they come from the trees outside) and I was on the 2nd floor. The apartment I moved into hadnt been lived in awhile so there were spiders and spider webs everywhere. I didnt like having to buy my own window treatment either. I spent about $80 total on discounted blinds at Home Depot. I didnt like the fact that I had to mail my rent payment instead of being able to drop it off at the clubhouse. (they dont trust their staff to send it in or something''') The walls are really thin. The washer/dryer was a nice change (previous apartment didnt have one) but they are the small stackable ones so it would have to wash 3 separate loads to wash the same amount of clothing in a regular size washer. I had a problem with the management at the end too. It started off as my fault because I didnt realize (nor remembered to reread my lease) that I had to give 30 days notice to move out even if my lease was up. So about 6 weeks before my lease was up, I closed on my condo but I never thought to tell the management I was moving out when my lease was up. It wasnt until about 2 weeks before my lease was up that I went to the clubhouse to report my lost wallet and I happened to ask the person their for the procedures to move out. She told my about the 30-day thing and I thought ok, my mistake but since I am still giving 2 weeks, maybe there is something we can work out. This is where THEY went wrong. Their customer service skills (managers, not the regular workers) were horrendous. They basically laughed in my face and said YES you will have to pay an extra month's rent. I myself have been in the customer service oriented jobs forever and I know there is always an expection to every rule. So I asked the managers if there was anybody else I could talk to (possibly higher up) to discuss options because I really didnt have the funds to pay another month because of my condo closing costs. She said NO. Now I knew she was lying because unless she owns the property, there HAS to be someone higher up than her. After going back and forth she finally gave me the fax # (said she couldnt give me a phone #) to the Terminating Bookkeeper and said I had to fax my request to her and she determines if there is anything else I can do. So I fax the TB my letter and she calls back about a week later without even telling me who she is or where she is calling from and says I got your letter and there is nothing else we can do. RUDE ASS!!! I was upset at the service I received. Put a damn smile on your face and in your voice if you are going to tell me NO, Kathy! BTW, my lease was up October 31st and I still havent received my security deposit back. OHHHH and they wouldnt even let me just let them keep the security deposit for my last rent payment. So I called on Dec 23rd stating I hadnt received it yet. They wanted to charge me $15 to stop payment on the check and resend. Talked to another manager and they decided to waive the fee. Called on Jan 14th because I still hadnt received it yet and they said they just sent it out on Jan 7th. Still waiting!!!!!!
