I lived at Southport for 1yr in the spring of 2002. I absolutely HATED IT!! First, there was a murder in there over drugs, that you probably already read in previous reviews. Second, my husbands work van was broken into and thousands of dollars of tools were stolen, which we never recovered and management didn't even care. Third, we had a HUGE stain on the carpet in the middle of the floor that we didn't notice when we did a walk though because the "carpets were wet" so we had to hurry. The biggest, most OUTRAGEOUS thing that happened at southport while we lived here was this---at 2:30 in the morning, we woke up with someone in our apartment! It happened to be a new neighbor from the building over WHO USED HER OWN KEY TO HER APARTMENT TO GET IN OURS!!!! We double checked the next day (including the neighbor)and both keys fit! Most of the keys are all the same!!! Luckily, she wasn't a murderer-she just flipped on the light in our bedroom and that is when we woke up! The management didn't give two shits about us or the incident. We made them change the locks at our apartment with a lock that we bought ourselves. We wanted out from that day forward but they would not let us go. The manager (Jeff) was a huge jerk about everything so I called the problem solvers! Anyway, we moved out the first chance we got but our friends weren't so lucky! Their cars were vandilized and someone used their own key to get into their apartment also!! BE AWARE! If you want to murdered or robbed because southport is too cheap to get new locks instead of passing out the same keys to everyone, then move to southport! You'll love it! I would otherwise never advise anyone to live there! Please take my word for it-don't find out for yourself!
P.S. Living here is a rip-off. They don't even have cable-you have to pay $40 for their own "cable" that is ------ quality and no premium channels!
