I have lived here for a year and I'm thankful my lease is up! I have a dog and have no place to walk him, the pool is really really dirty, ducks poop in the pool and they dont clean it up. The Apartments are nice, but you can rent the same exact apartment at westlake (their sister company), except westlake has brand new apartments and more places to walk your dogs...really though if you have a pet you do not want to live here pet rent is $50.00/month which is outragous (Harbour Club is only $35/mo.). Crime is on the rise here too, when I moved in last summer it was kind of quiet, now I see the cops here or a break in about 3 times a month.

The pet policy has changed so before you start complaining about it you should really check with the office staff for the correct information. The pool is never dirty and the staff does a wonderful job maintaining the correct levels. The previous comment is correct if you read the Belleville Independent you will find Southport to be the safest property in Ballleville.

Funny, there is a mile circumference around the grounds of Southport and you can walk your dog all around here and go over the hill to Morton Taylor and walk them up and down the road too....I go to the pool at 10am and they clean it every morning.....i've never seen duck poop in the 3 years I have lived here....The staff has always been wonderful to me and keep you up to date on whats happening. Crime is not on the rise here and if you need proof pick up the Belleville independant, they have police dispatch logs in there, Look for Oak Lane and you will only see it occasionally for Medical Runs and Noise (i'm on the FD so I know whats going on) You have more crime at Harbour Club and the others in the area, Southport is by far the safest community!

I just love how the office staff posts their own biased comments. Southport was the most terrible place I have ever lived. The crime was so bad that we actually helped the Van Buren Police bust a drug dealer with federal warrants. The office staff was horrible as was the regional manager. It was like the higher you went the stupider the people got. And to say that Southport is the safest in Belleville is not saying much. Have any of you looked around lately? BELLEVILLE IS A MINI DETROIT. Ugh I'm just glad to be out of there!

This is clearly employees/office staff defending this place. You are better off in a trailer park.
