We lived here for two years, the location was between work and school which worked out well. In general Belleville has little to offer to the college crowd, but Ypsi and Ann Arbor are a short drive away. It's a bit of a drive to a real grocery store (unless you don't mind shopping at Meijer or Walmart) and being right on the i-94 service drive means your walking and biking is primarily limited to the apartment parking lot.

Pros:
Grounds are nicely kept
pool is decent
the office staff is extremely friendly, and is very good notifying/communicating events/maintenance
ponds are nice to look out on to

Cons:
Not enough parking, if you get home from work late, good luck finding a spot. They push you into $15/mo carports because there is not enough parking (and who likes walking half a mile with groceries)
seems to be more low-class people moving in, who like thumping car stereos at night
nearby stores/resteruants are limited
nearest biking/walking path requires a drive to the park
can't pay rent directly at the office, you have to mail it in
cat fees/extra rent is a joke (just get a cat, they'll never know)
internet sucks (only dsl, and slow!)
apt provided cable sucks (have to get satellite)
washer and dryer are tiny, and require multiple cycles to dry clothes
walls are this, noise from neighbor is very apparent
ducks will wake you up in the morning
cheap paint (bump anything and leave a big mark)
"carpet cleaning" fee when you move in, carpet still looks crappy

Just so YOU know, Kroger is 5 miles (10 minute drive) according to google maps. I just checked: http://tinyurl.com/moy7sp Parking... There were a total of 54 non-paid parking spots in front of my building, minus two marked as handicapped. The building has 48 apartments in it. See any problems? A lot of apts have two people with cars living in them, plus visitors! So yes, you end up paying for a carport. Target, Old Navy, Petsmart, and Bath and Bodyworks are all in the same area as Kroger, a 10 minute drive. You might as well just drive to Ann Arbor, it's a little farther but you have more choices. Look at the eateries you named, fast food and franchises. Where are all the local pubs/bars? Foreign foods? Mexican and Chinese, that's about it. Bayou grill was pretty good, but closed. My problem with mailing in rent is not the 42 cent cost, its the fact that if you forget to send in your rent a day or two before its due (especially on a weekend) you're stuck with late fees. It'd be nice to be able to drop it off (do they not trust the people working in the office?) Cat fees were $50 a month when we asked, does a cat really cause $600 worth of damage every year? The DSL max speed i could get was 3mbps at the apts, comcast and att u-verse both offer packages as high as 20mbps in the SW detroit area. i'm not a constant complainer, i just listed my personal pros and cons after living here for two years. Oh yeah I failed to mention that a neighbor was having their dryer repaired when a spark lit the gas leak the repairman created. Needless to say, a there was a huge fireball and the doorwall blew out. Luckily no one was hurt, but clearly the damage could have been much worse. if you really think this is the safest and nicest you've seen, you really need to get out of bellevilletucky! I wouldn't be surprised if you're just one of the office girls, or someone at Edward Rose, they seem to be all over this site trying to save their apartment ratings from going down the drain!
