Staff helpful - Apartment complex needs work.

The staff, both office and maintenace, is very courtious and helpful. I never had any troubles with them. However, they are limited in what they have the power to fix. We had trouble with a street light outside our unit. The staff has been unable to fix it and the light has been out for 5 months and counting dispite numberous calls. The apartment itself is new, but poorly insulated for both weather and noise. We can hear the people in that apartment below us when someone sneezes. The drafts that come off the walls and windows are terrible. Third floor apartments are nice with cathedral ceilings, but heating and cooling vents are in the ceiling about 9 to 10 feet from the floor. Heating and cooling is difficult and the furnace and air conditioner seem underpowered for the larger space in third floor apartments. Add to that a patio door with a window above (third floor only) and you have a great greenhouse in summer, especially if those widows face east or west (I think west is worse). My air conditioning has been known to run non-stop from 4 or 5PM until 8 or 9PM everyday during the summer. It all adds up to a pretty heafty electric bill for an apartment. There is also the issue of cracks in the walls. The apartment complex is relativly new (actually still under construction) and the staff claims it's normal settling. It still looks bad. There is currently no clubhouse although they've been building the clubhouse for at least 2 years now (as long as I've lived there). The complex itself is still under construction and I haven't seen great progress in the time I've lived there. All in all, I would not have move in if I knew then what I know now.
