I currently live at Westlake and it has its ups and its downs. First off, there is some issue between the owners and the cable tv provider. I've talked to both and one blames the other for no service. Another problem that just arose is with parking. When I moved in there were no covered carports and within the past month they started putting them up. Sounds great right' The problem is in the way they went about building them and "leasing" them. Before the carports parking was not usually packed but at night and on weekends it would be full. One evening they went around and put notes on everybody's door that pretty much said that anybody parking in the back spots past a certain date (3 days after the note) would be towed. Unfortunately this created a parking shortage so the last people home were pretty much forced to park in these spots and risk getting towed. These back parking places were officially off limits for about a month with no good solution to the parking problem. Then they passed out notes that said before parking in these spots you must sign an ammendment to your lease and pay an extra $15 per month to park under the carport. Few people were interested in paying the extra money but there still isn't enough parking. Finally they passed out another nasty note saying that they would just tack on the extra fee to the lease of anyone caught parking in these spots. There are not enough parking spaces and the management seems to have found a way to actually force people to "lease" their covered parking.

The previous note about random rules appearing over night without warning is quite true. Also, if you're considering WL make sure to ask them about the shooting that took place here in August of 04.

WL isn't a bad place to live though. The management just needs to be a little more considerate and willing to work with the residents instead of against the residents.
