Hillcrest Apartments rank very low among the apartment complexes I have lived for several reasons:

A. The 'free' Local Access Network they boast of is crippled by port blocking (all ports except 3128 are blocked), a firewall on the router, and extremely poor bandwidth even with no peer-to-peer programs able to run. Like online multiplayer games of ANY sort' Can't play 'em here. Have homework which may require you to log into the mainframe at Ferris' Not here you don't.
B. In the 3 years I have been here, the rent has increased by $100 a month but no additional perks have been thrown our way except the 'free' LAN. The outdoor pool they proudly throw in the ads is quite often found to be completely clouded with mud, rocks, and dirt - most of which is contributed by the lackluster mob of miscreants they hire to do crud work during the summer.
C. Any and all rent owed is joint and several. If your roommate should die, come up short on rent, or just bail, you would be liable for the remainder of your lease amount. Only room with people you know here.
D. There have been 3 major fires here in the time I have lived here. One of them was in the manager's assistant's apartment. 'Nuff said.
Overall, if you want to pay anywhere from $600 - $970 (combined total for you and your roommates - if you have any, depending on 6, 9, or 12 month leases) then I think the accomadtions you could expect would be much higher than this place.
The buildings were built in the 50's, the management company is not investing any of the fat loot they haul back into customer satisfaction, and, because of the general disatisfaction amongst the inhabitants, all the trash and cigarette butts lying about does not help the decor any.
