Very good place in 2006

Seeing as I'm currently at my 3rd Edward Rose & Sons apartment complex in the past 4 years (The Crossings, Byron Lakes, and now Canal Club) I figured I'd write a review for each on today. That being said, from my personal experiences I found Byron Lakes to be the best one of the three and my favorite place of all the places I've lived. I lived here from March 2006 through December 29th, 2006. Byron Lakes is in a safe location with a nice, small town, cozy feel. My apartment was nice and had a washer/dryer in the kitchen area which is why I settled on this place. The leasing office staff was always friendly to me and helpful. When I had maintenance done it seemed to be taken care of typically within the same day of the request or the day after. I never found anything stolen from my apartment after a visit from the maintenance crew. I will not argue with anyone if they say they had that happen to them as I know in general, at any apartment complex, that that can and probably does happen from time to time.
I think being in a smaller town location probably helps this place maintain a less rowdy set of tenants (at least for my building it felt that way, though there was one boyfriend/girlfriend combo further down the building that had a few argue-fests that, unfortunately involved cops being called over to help settle the dispute). I was lucky enough that my direct neighbors were whisper quiet. Honestly this place felt like a library, which I loved. But that is just the luck of the draw. All it takes is one person with a loud radio or loud TV with surround sound and subwoofer setup to make your living experience thoroughly unenjoyable.
As I mentioned earlier I've now lived at three Edward Rose complexes. With that in mind I can vouch for the fact that construction and quality between each location is exactly the same and I can give you a good idea of what to expect noise and "smell" wise (anyone who has lived at more than one of these Edward Rose places knows that even the floorplan layouts and interior are "exactly" the same). The walls between units are fairly thin and if you do live next to somone who is noisy you will hear them, and if you live above someone who smokes you will get it wafting up to your place as well which is a definite annoyance. Unfortunately not much can be done in that situation (give or take how much of an effort your "current" leasing management cares about your quality of living and doing their best to ensure your neighbor's arguments aren't yours as well).
One other thing I want to mention is that from what it sounds like based off other reviews in general, is that with all complexes regarding management and other staff it's really a flip of a coin. While I stand by my claim that the management at Byron Lakes has always been helpful to me and friendly and in no way a pain to work with, I do realize that others do run into problems. It's probably a clash of personalities or something similar as to why some people have good luck and others have lousy luck. A good example of this is that during my time at Byron Lakes I found one of the leasing ladies from the previous place I had lived at, The Crossings, had transferred to this one (which was nice because she was always friendly and remembered my name). When I asked why she transferred here, she mentioned it was because the atmosphere at The Crossings leasing office was going downhill. I'm taking that to mean either a changeover of management itself and/or the leasing staff. Now, take a look at the reviews for The Crossings and you'll notice that before 2006 that place had great reviews (and that was also during the time I lived there) but from 2006 on after, they've been lousy. Management/leasing staff/maintenance employees do make a difference and I suspect there has been some kind of changeover of employees over there. But like I said...flip of a coin, when I was there it was great, but now it seems like it's not so great.
Well with all that being said (sorry for the lengthy post) I highly recommend this place given their current management and employee staff. For the poster that said he had problems with management, I won't say yay or nay as I can't say if the manager I worked with was the same as the one he worked with despite us both having lived there during part of the same time period.
