We lived at Village Green Canton at 41291 Apt. 104 from early January 2009 through the first week of July 2009. We rented the apartments so we could provide 24/7 care for her while she was recovering from a major brain stroke and to keep her from entering a nursing home ever again. Comments:
1. For a publicized "luxury apartment" renting to us short term for $1,050 per month - we didn't fing the luxury...what we did find was questionable.
2. During snow storms the staff (') piled the snow in the one available handicap parking spot (other than those in front of the management office;
3. Management was spotty and sometimes "snotty";
4. The maintenance staff by and large was generally cooperative and responsive;
5. However, that being said, we reported before moving in that most of the electrical outlets in 104 could not hold a plug sufficiently to keep it operating. They replaced a couple - the rest...the new tenants will have to cope with this unusual problem - why not just replace them with ones that work.
6.Mechaicals - we were without heat for several weeks during the coldest time of the year. The thermostat was replaced twice. The heat exchanger was "repaired" once and finally replaced. The air conditioner didn't work during the warmest period we had there. This required having the windows open - my daughter recovering from brain surgery has severe asthma; I am a heart and lung patient with terrible allergies, etc. I told my wife if anything happened to Julie or me she should get the best lawyer available and go after the big bucks Village Green is not spending on upkeep.
7. Speaking of upkeep - Broken, raised, and sunken concrete in the sidewalks and curbs, sink holes around drains, are like "LAW SUITS" waiting to happen.
8. Again during cold weather, the toilet tank water valve in one of the bathrooms malfuntioned and the apartments was awash in several inches of freezing water by the time our feet discovered the flood on a midnight bathroom break foray. It took weeks (or more) to get the carpet dried out and reinstalled - the same carpeting which had been sitting wet in an apartment in use by three adults...all three with health issues. These things were addressed only after nnumerous calls which generally went unanswered - and ineptly and rudely on other occasions.
There is a lot more to be said but I will leave it for those who may actually think they are living a life of luxury at Village Green of Canton. If they are, I think we deserve a 100% refund. There seems to be a lackadaisical approach to doing business. Frankly, I can't imagine how you stay in business.
