Please, if you know what is good for you, do NOT move into Garfield Commons. This place is a ---- hole! I have lived here for less than 5 months, and here are the problems that I have encountered.
1) The stairs are unsafe! We have unfinished plywood for a landing, which when damp or wet from morning dew or your neighbors leaking garbage, turns into an ice rink. The stairs are made of cement that is uneven, with chunks missing, cracks and actually falling off of the base of the stair.
2) The neighbors have no respect for anyone, and play their music at all hours of the night, and start again as soon as they please the very next day. When you bring the problem to managements attention they do absolutely nothing, And I do mean NOTHING! When you call the police, they turn it back up as soon as the police leave.
3) CAN WE SAY SEX OFFENDERS WELCOME''''
4) Management is an absolute joke! They are a bunch af assinine little girls who have no idea what they are doing, and I am not sure how they even have jobs anymore!
5) I had a maintenance man show up to fix something, and he was stoned out of his mind, and smelled like weed.
6) My heat broke, and it took 5 calls and 4 different maintenance men to get it fixed.
7) Parking is an absolute nightmare, we never have anywhere to park, and sorry, but if we are paying x amount of money every month to live in hell, we sould get a car port included.
8) When I moved in, I found a moldy blueberry muffin in my cabinet, the tub was dirty, and my oven had easy off sprayed all over the inside of the oven, but was never cleaned, and the storage room light was stuck on. And when management was informed, I got a very helpful.... huh' sorry about that.
and last but certainly not least, and in my eyes the most important, Most recently (10/22/07), my car broke down at 1:30 in the morning, less than a block from here, I had it towed home, and backed into a spot, seeing as there are no mechanics open at 1:30 in the morning. Well on 11/1 at 5:30 p.m. they put an orange sticker on my car saying that if it was not towed by 11/3/07, it would be towed at my expense. Well that is fine, I called to have it towed on 11/2, and when the company that I chose showed up to tow my car, the morons at Garfield Commons had already impounded it. Oh wait, it gets better, not only did they take my car a day early, upon calling the police station, I learned that the top notch managers, told the police that my car had been "abandoned" for a month and a half, and then I received a letter form the courts and the dumb asses told them that they did not take my car until 11/3. Hmmmmmm someone just filed a false report in order to cover their ass. I know that they think I will just go away, but I am in fact suing now, and what do you ask made me come to that conclusion'' The fact that there are 3 cars that have been un moved and have expired plates on them, and they don't even have an orange sticker on them yet. I have done my homework, and I have been taking pictures of these cars since mine was illegaly towed over a week ago.
If any of you feel that you have been done wrong by this hell hole, please respond.

I agree, this place is a hell hole. My husband and I moved out of there in March, b/c our apt. had completed flooded, due to what the management said was a "pipe above the water heater in the apartment above us broke". yeah right, it was like a fire hydrant went off in the apt above us and not some little pipe. This occurred at 2:30am on a Wednesday, when my husband and I awoke to what sounded like a river flowing. We jumped out of bed and water was coming from all light fixtures, vents in the ceilings and etc. We ran out of there so fast, due to it being unsafe. We called the emergency maintenance line and the lady had to page the guy on call about 3 times, b/c he wasn't responding. And get this it took the guy an hour to get to our apartment even though he lives on the apartment site!!!!! We ended up calling the fire department to see if they could help us. All of our furniture was COMPLETELY destroyed. Everything was soaken wet like our linens and clothes. But after all of this the manager said "oh we will have the apt. fixed for you by Friday", which was a day and a half later. Uh, any moron in their right mind would know that there is a little thing called "MOLD" that this apartment would be a haven for! So, I had to ----- the office staff out, b/c I told them we wanted a different apt, b/c "hello, you idiots, the apt is not liveable". But, they then in turn said that they would not give us another apt. unless we signed a waiver that basically stated that the management company was not responsible for any of our damages". We went back and forth, round and round with the management company for 2 weeks, while all of our stuff sat in that nasty mold infested apartment. Of course the only work they were doing to the apartment was patching in the holes in the ceiling that had collapsed because of water busting through them. They actually tore up the carpet, dried it and layed the SAME carpet back down, (now let me remind you that this carpet had about a foot of water in it from the flood). The apt. complex wasn't concerned with the fact that there is mold growing behind the walls. You could smell the mold right when you walked into the apt. So it then came down to us getting a lawyer so we could break our lease and get the hell out of that HELL HOLE! Oh yeah, one more thing, the apartment above us that had flooded, they moved people in their a day after the flood. Now doesn't that show you that Garfield Commons and Brookline management are only in it for the money!!
