Another act in the continuing comedy of Lakeside Village.
All of us are aware of the fire that, fortunately, didn't kill anyone but put a serious dent in Paragon Properties wallet. They're still speculating what caused it, but the attempt to put the blame on an innocent resident didn't fly with the fire inspector. Instead, they have found numerous violations of the safety codes so now we expect all buildings will be inspected for smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, exits, etc. I wish they would get the Department of Sanitation in here, too.
The latest follies is that all residents were advised that repairs would begin in the center parking lot on May 23 and ALL cars must be moved or be towed away at owner's expense. It happened. I watched in amusement as several wreckers got the cars out and the laggards struggled to get to theirs before they were towed. Fine, so far. A veritable army of backhoes, trucks, bulldozers and sundry construction worker bees showed up and razed the top layer of the lot in record time. My goodness, at that rate I thought they'd be done in two or three days. Hah!
Now follow along with me: May 23 was Friday of Memorial weekend. The razing of the parking lot would make it impossible for users of that lot to have friends over for the holiday weekend, so other plans had to be made. Imagine my surprise when nothing, I mean NOTHING further was done that weekend. Why didn't they wait until Tuesday to begin' And guess what' I arrived home Tuesday after work and still NOTHING was being done! Typical, just typical of the people that run this place. I'm counting down to the end of my lease this year. I surrender. Can't fight City Hall and all that.

Wow. I live at Lakeside Village and I totally bought into the "gas grill" thing. I didn't know it was violations. It's funny because it took them 3 weeks to respond to my complaint about a broken smoke detector and I had to call three times during that period!
