I've seen the property go up and go down but this time it has really gone down. We have lost several good employees, since we have changed three managers. I have decided that it was time to go nothing is getting better. In my travels of looking for a new home, I have ran into several properties that are very in tune to management here at Lakeside Village. None of the feed back I have received from other properties is positive about management. This place is like the Wizard Of Oz, people come and go so quickly around here. That to me in my opinion is a sign of very poor management. People that stay at there jobs for long periods of time and don't leave is a good sign of a good place, and good management. Not only will I be leaving but two other people I mistakenly brought on the property will be ending there lease as well. With the reputation management has here and all around macomb county I don't for see anything getting better on this property. So please when your out there searching ask questions and absorb information before making a decision on Lakeside Village.

I'm a resident and whoever wrote this sappy brown nose response is full
crap. Do you know how many people have complained to management and management either ignored or took their sweet time taking care of our issues and concerns. What resident gets to rub elbows with upper management and for what? This posting is an inside job! It's called DAMAGE CONTROL!

After reading this response, I can only come to the conclusion that it's either someone who works for Lakeside Village or Paragon that made this posting. It's too much of a coincidence that this posting was made by someone as a direct response to a negative posting within the last week by a former employee. I lived there for three years, the place sucks now. Additional posts back up what my problems were (unresponsive staff and maintenance personnel, crappy customer service with maintenance fixes or complaints, high turnover). It's quite suspicious that all of a sudden this posting pops up simply praising all the hard work that these people do and how wonderful the place is and to give them a break and maybe tenants need to ease up a bit. Are you kidding me, if I rent an apartment from someone and something breaks and they don't fix it for 2 months, you're damn right I'm going to be mad, and I have every right. Here's a little tidbit for you, the state mandated safety checks that each apartment complex is required by law to perform every spring and fall (air conditioning and heating filter checks) have not occurred at this place in 3 years. That's 3 years worth of built up crap sitting in all these apartments that is just waiting to go up in flames. Yeah, nice safe place they got there, you'd think those would be high on the priority list.

Well, I did think this posting was a bit too rosy but I don't think the timing is suspicious at all. From my experience the staff does try hard and probably can't get it all done because of time and budget constraints. Personall, I have not been disappointed once. The resident manager is a tough little cookie that ensures things are up to snuff and even pays personal visits to resident troublemakers to resolve issues.
There's no way I can blame management for debris on the grounds (including dog feces), empty bottles, McDonald's bags, ad infinitum. The general cleanliness of the complex is our responsibility on a day-to-day, or are you expecting a personal valet to follow you around? True, there's a lot of resident turnover, but when there are that many units to keep filled some rules are stretched. I bet there are people living here, 3 or 4 to one apartment that can barely afford the monthly rent. But, that's a reflection of the Detroit housing crisis, with many families forced to leave their houses and rent apartments.
While I agree that 2 months for something important to be repaired, I'm going to take that with a huge grain of salt. Even unimportant complaints from me have never taken more than a week or two to repair. I have never waited more than a few hours for a serious problem, like lack of air conditioning or heating. I do have an issue with malfunctioning intercoms, though. These should be maintained or repaired immediately if we're to keep unwanted strangers from entering the bulding. BUT, there again I have an issue with the residents and their friends. People think nothing of ringing those buzzers at any time of the day or night for various reasons, usually because the morons forgot the apartment numbers for their friends.
In short, I AM a resident and I DO like Lakeside Village and the management. Now, if we could only teach other residents to be kind and considerate toward others we'd all be a lot happier.
