Until you're late on your rent. Most other apartments consider your rent late if its paid after the 3rd, with Lakeside, you're late if its paid after the office closes on the first, so if you pay it on the 1st at 7pm, you're late, and being late one time costs so much, they take away any concession that you got at the lease signing (like, $100 off each month of the lease for one year, or whatever deal you got, is taken away, if they said only $10 for the water, and you're late, it goes back to original price) So for us that meant our rent want from $589 to $650. that in itself might not have been so bad, BUT add $75, add $141 if you pay after the 5th (that's when they file court papers, yeah the FIFTH) not to mention any other fees you might have had. In the end with all fees added on for the ONE month that we were late we ended up paying $966 for ONE MONTH! That's not the only thing that's horrible about this place, I don't care how the office staff SEEMED when you went in for a walk-through, (OF COURSE they're are nice to perspective renters) They are a bunch of uptight, panty-bunched ------- that think they are better than you for some reason. If you have ANY PROBLEM whether it be a maintenance problem or a question or anything that requires getting a hold of someone in the office, forget about it. They don't answer their phones EVER. EVER!!! Any time we tried to call, no one answered and they also never called back, we called 4 times regarding our intent to vacate papers, and no one answered, we then got a notice that said since WE hadn't signed an intent to vacate paper that WE had to be locked into a month to month lease, which they charge $770 a month for instead of $589. All because they didn't answer their phones. While we lived there 2 cars were spray painted (for parking in the loading space, DON'T PARK IN THE LOADING DOCK/SPACE, YOUR CAR WILL BE DAMAGED) and one car was stolen and the office said and did NOTHING. Basically, its not their problem. Don't count on your supposed "free assigned parking space" because you'll never get to park in it, and (WHETHER THEY SAY SO OR NOT) you can call all you want to report the car for being in your spot, but they wont even put a sticker on it or call the people to tell them not to. They just wont do it. Believe me, we tried. Moving out is a NIGHTMARE!!!! Ever since we signed our intent to vacate, they havent left us alone, they call at least once a day and its always because they want money. They claim we didn't have renters insurance, but we get it automatically paid by a credit card, NOT TO MENTION, when we moved in we were told "just get THIS renters insurance for NOW and then if you don't like it, you can change" so we said Ok, to THEIR renters insurance, WE GOT IT FROM THEM, and they are saying that we never showed them any proof of it, and want us to pay for it for the 12 months we were there. It seems like since they don't have to impress us as tenants anymore because we're moving, they are purposely being DICKS. I went in to pay our rent, and while I was there I had a question about my taxes regarding the renters refund and whether or not our apartment is considered a "Homestead" (it IS by the way, don't bother asking them) The girl said "Its....an apartment" I said "I know, but that doesn't really help my taxes" and someone who I wasn't even talking to on the other side of the room started yelling at me "LOOK, That's not OUR job to KNOW that, you have to talk to your tax preparer for that kind of information, THAT'S NOT WHAT WE DO HERE" I started to say that I thought that maybe they had been asked before and would know and right when the second word fell out of my mouth the lady said (screamed) "I SAID...THAT'S...NOT...OUR...JOB...WE...CAN'T...HELP like I was Forrest Gump or something. Again, Total -------. Also, Don't rely on the Model apartment. Their MODEL apartment is to the actual apartment what playboy MODELS are to REAL WOMEN. Not realistic and made to look like "Of course you could make it look this good" and there's no way it could unless you don't plan on actually LIVING in the apartment. Also our DTE bill was upwards or $150. We called DTE and asked them why and they said that there must be a problem with our wiring, like it might be hooked to another apartments electric supply, and the apartment told us that its not up to them to fix it and to call DTE, so we did and they said that NO, it IS up to them to have our meter read and compared and fixed if needed, and it went on like that, them telling us to call DTE and that it wasn't their problem.
There are PLENTY of Apartment complexes out there that are much cheaper them Lakeside Village. And have a nicer, more attentive staff. And also wont ram you in the ass with fees. Please go there instead of Lakeside Village. Unless you love ripping your $100 dollar bills in half and flushing them down the toilet, because that's exactly what you'll be doing every time you pay rent.

I wish their was a way I could give every person who is thinking of checking out Lakeside Village a book of scary stories on that place, you won't even drive by it. Let alone consider checking it out!!!!! I hope everything works out for you. But I will say your right there are much more beautiful properties in the area to live, with much less aggravation and much more pleasant office staff. GOOD LUCK

your rent isnt late if its in the drop box when they open it on the 2nd. they dont add the late fee until the 3rd and they file in court on the 15th. if you call the office and talk to kristen and tell her that you will be late and make a promise to pay date she can and will hold off on court fees. she has even let me as well as my neigbor make payments. for the vandilisim on the cars, things happen. the office has a person who patrols the property to try to prevent things but they dont staff a detective and if you call any other place thereisnt anything that their office could have done either. in this tough ecomity they did redo the pavement, put in new picnic areas, new bus stop for the kids. its like a visious cycle, this site. if they dont do what you want them to do you can vent on here and make them look mean. i wish i new who you were because it sounds like youve had some financal difficuty or just failed to get you rent in on time. you can also set up for your rent to come right out of your checking account or pay it online. sounds like you probly didnt read your lease which i am so sure alot of us are guilty of. i rea mine in the bathroom during one sesion. if no one ansered the phone there, ust leave them a message an they wil call you bck. sounds like you were a little inptient on that. you could email them too. yes everything is misplled, no im not stupid, so dont reply on that. its late and i dont are to spell check it. i just thought i would educate you on he basics of living at lakeside. oh yeah and the leasing staff are nice but they probly read these reviws and no exactly who you were. i bet if they could right on a site of tenet reviews they would have something to say backatcha'
