I have nothing but good things to say about the Harbours. The grounds are kept up (grass is always cut and trimmed, snow plowing is kept in check) Staff were friendly and very helpful. Maintenance were prompt and courteous.
Washer and dryer, heat included in the rent...what more could you want'''' My neighbors were terrific, although I have heard some people complain about the noise level...but I think you could get that anywhere you rent...
I know I only lived there a year, but I would definitely rent again if the situation permitted.

O.K. But...what about: Goose poop EVERYWHERE. Having maintainance men in your apartment when you are not home WITHOUT notice (I know this because I left work early & come home to FIND them there). What about: HUGH spiders everywhere around the stairwells that the apartment staff should have sprayed for after numerous complaints. What about being charged $6 (taken off of my deposit) for a Dollar Store ice tray that broke during my 1st month of residency - which I informed the lovely office staff about & requested a new one & was told I could buy one. What about being charged $50/month for a 12 lb Dog that I cleaned up after & never barked/made messes etc. like the BRATTY neighbor kids did ALL THE TIME. I even had to pick up the DIRTY DIAPERS of those kids becuase their LAZY WELFARE MOTHER left by her door in a bag from Walmart until she decided to go to the smelly garbage unit & dump if AFTER cats got into it. What about having to always park at the next apartment bldg. when I got home at night from WORK (most didn't work) at midnight nightly? What about the extra carpet fee that they TRIED to assign to me until I showed them the PRE-MOVE IN photos I took & luckily kept after I moved out & brought to the corporate office myself. What about calling the cops at least 3 times due to a neighbor beating up his wife after coming home drunk & finding her boyfriend running out of the terrace doorwell? What about my upstairs neighbor vaccuuming at 4:00 a.m. weekly? What about the snow plow men burying our vehicles in with piles higher than the back bumper even when they see you TRYING to move the car for them! O.K. enough ranting.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I now pay an extra $100/month but do NOT have to pay the extra $50 for my dog - so I figure an extra $50 a month for a DECENT corporation is well worth it...& I GET A GARAGE under my apartment in a gated community apartment in Sterling Heights off of 19 Mile Rd. HINT HINE PEOPLE. And...NO I do not work for them - I work for ST John Hospital in Macomb Township.

Sorry your experience was so horrible. Maybe I was just fortunate to have had great neighbors. Any time I needed maintenance they always asked if they could come in. I would inform them when it was ok, and they always abided by my wishes. Although you might be a person who cleans up after their animal, most people in a rental situation don't. I agree with you though on the pet policy. I would imagine the ones you speak of have not informed the office that they even "own" a pet and are not paying that extra fee.
I am a full time employee at Henry Ford Macomb, therefore do not speak for the "majority" as you state. My experience at the Harbours was decent, it's just sad that yours wasn't.
