could be better, could be worse

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Pros: Good location. It was nice to live so close to Meijer and Freedom Hill. It seemed safe and they have a security car patrol every night. The grounds were pretty and they provide flats of flowers that you can plant by your door in the spring if you like to. Usually I could park right by my door.
They have apartments that are easy to access if you are disabled and have problems walking up stairs.
I liked that there was a washer and dryer in the unit.
Cons: They do A LOT of mandatory maintenance visits of the apartments on short notice. At my old apartment there was only one maintenance check per year with several weeks of advance notice. Here it seemed like every couple of months they would announce that they were coming into the apartment within the next day or two. If you enjoy privacy then you probably won't like that. I suspect they do that to keep an eye on how the tenants are treating the apartments and not because it's actually necessary to do as many maintenance checks as they claim.
The apartment was drafty in the winter and they were slow to replace my furnace even though it was old and not putting out heat well in the middle of winter.
Their snowplowing could be more prompt. I got stuck in the snow trying to get to work early after a big overnight snowfall.
The walls seemed insulated okay but I could hear noise through the floor from my neighbors who liked to argue (though it did not bother me enough to complain about it to the management so I don't know how they would have handled it).
Unless you can get a discount on the rent I consider it rather expensive for what you get. With so many houses for sale in this area it would likely be a better deal to rent a house than pay full price to live here.
I would say this is probably one of the nicer apartment complexes in the area but that says more about the low quality of the majority of rentals in the area than this place. It was adequate and nothing terrible happened while I was there but it is not somewhere that I would rave about and try to talk someone into moving into.
