Ok....

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005

I lived at Alpine Slopes for approx. 2 years. Overall, I found it a very suitable place to live. The office staff were always friendly and prompt in regards to notices and with any interactions and took the extra effort to learn your name. The rent was a little expensive but compared to other places it was reasonable as they have an indoor heated pool and weight room. (Caution: The pool temp is variable in the winter, you never know when it will be set a little too cold to actually swim in.) The actual apartment itself was moderate.
There was fresh paint on the walls and it was clean but seemed to need some updating. The kitchen is quite small and the carpet could use replacing. Many of the appliances work fine but can be up to 20 years old. Please take caution if you have a loft as the metal spiral staircase can be very slippery (So far, anyone that climbed ours without shoes on managed to slip at least once.) The toilet would run unless you moved the handle back up after flushing (I guess something they were unable to fix). Also, my heat/air conditioning were erratic. Luckily, you don't need both in a close proximity of days as everytime I'd use the heat things would be fine, but if you wanted the air on you needed maintenance to come fix it again and vice versa.
The only real problems I had were not the apartment complexes fault. After living at Alpine Slopes for a year my old neighbors moved out and from there everything went downhill. My car was keyed, the door dinged, and someone even managed to back into it. The neighbors were fond of throwing loud parties, and while that may be okay for Friday or even Saturday night it's really hard to sleep during the week. (If reported the office is good about addressing the issue.) The overall soundproofing of the actual walls is sufficient but the windows, even when closed, will allow even moderate sound through. On the weekends it is not unusual to have pot smoke wafting through the parking lot or to fill your apartment as the neighbors below you feel it neccessary to smoke on the deck.
Careless dog owners managed to cover the yard in dog poop so it was difficult to walk anywhere but the sidewalk and not step in it. Also many of the dogs were poorly trained as they would begin howling and barking at about 5-6:30AM during the week. This was an extra treat as many people don't wake up that early for work.
We finally had to move to a nicer place/area as Alpine was a little too shady. Even though we're paying more rent now, it's well worth it to have a no dog and zero tolerance noise policy.
