My husband and I have lived here for almost 2 years now, and we're still deciding if we actually like this place.
We're in the bigger of the 2 bed/ 1 1/2 bath (not the loft)
the pros:
-lots of space for the price
-lots of closets
-you're allowed to paint
-semi-private neighborhood
-very friendly and competent staff/maint.
-indoor heated pool, mini-gym, computer room and tennis court
the cons (and these are pretty hard to ignore):
-your neighbors, who throw ANYTHING from their patios onto yours. If you have children, this is not good. I don't allow my son to go outside when we're home because the 3rd floor tenants throw lit cigarette butts on the ground)
-no parking, unless you'd like to pay an extra $15/month
-your neighbors, who pound on their floor/your ceiling when your child cries. EVERY TIME.
-Across the street from York Creek. My brand new car just got broken into, and apparently someone was shot across the street from us while I was at work tonight.
-your neighbors, who beat their children in the hallway and/or don't supervise them properly, leaving them to take your laundry detergent from the shared facilities and dump it on the ground in front of the door.
-The kitchen. Apparently some of them have been updated. Ours is far from refurnished.
-your neighbors friends, who take your parking spots and bang on your windows on their way to said neighbors' apt.
-the doors. They don't fit the frame, and the front door is so thin you can hear everyone in the hallway, and they can hear into your apartment the same way.
-the effing neighbors, who just don't care about health or safety or other people than themselves in general.
Obviously, my problem isn't really with the apartments. Any time I've called management, they've responded promptly and efficiently. The worst part is just the invasion of privacy because of the doors, and our patio door faces the street and a parking lot, so people can see into our place all the time. If we had the same neighbors that lived here when we first moved in, this would be a much more positive review. But no one takes care of their dogs/dog droppings. No one takes care of their children, their trash, or their laundry. It's frustrating that people just lose respect simply because they're selfish.
One more thing: please plant some grass! these stupid pine trees suck up all the moisture, and there's no playground for my kid to play. If I had some grass, I'd be more apt to let him go outside to play.

I understand your concern but, I have had no problems with Alpine Slopes including the office staff. They have always been very prompt with work orders and dealing with noise complaints. As far as the shooting on Friday, no one can assure your safety. That could have happened anywhere. I know that they have attempted to plant grass but because of all the pine trees it is very hard to keep it going. I think that the grass that they do have looks really great. I don't have a problem with hearing people in the hallway but maybe my neighbors are quiet people. I do know that they do criminal back ground checks on all residents that live here, but they can't help it when there are people living in apartments that don't belong on the lease. All in all I haven't had any problems with Alpine Slopes Maintenance or office staff. It is apartment living!!

I agree, and I definitely agree about the office staff. They've been wonderful. I think I'm just in a building with a lot of kids and dogs and people who fight. And also neighbors that fight with each other. Like I stated previously, my problem isn't really with the apartments, but with the other people in my building having a general lack of respect for each other.
And yes, I know. Pine trees make the ground acidic and therefore grass can't grow. And the rest of the lawn where there IS grass does look nice. I just wish they could do something to spruce it up where the ground isn't so favorable to grass. And maybe get rid of the piles of rocks in front of the doors so people don't constantly use them as doorstops or their children don't put them in the middle of the parking lot to be run over.

I have only lived here about 3 months now. i like my apartment but im not too happy about the pet policy. My 2 friends who live in the apartments too have a pet hamster. And the Maintence men came in and saw it then the next day my friends had a notice on their door to remove the hamster. Whats up with that? What is so wrong with having a caged pet? I think if your paying your rent and not messing the place up you should be able to do whatever you want in your own home. My friends have had the hamster there for about 2 years and now they want to say something about it? I mean how many people in Alpine slopes have a hamster or bird or even a farret? Why go after someone who has been here for 2 years and make them get rid of a hamster? Geez, I think its messed up

You guys must be in a much better building then I am. I moved in with my fiance in 2007. He had had the apartment for a long while before that.
My neighbors are awful. We've complained to the office so many times that they told us to just call the cops on them.
Most of the maintenance people we've gotten lately have been horrible. We've reported that we have a leaking faucet and our dishwasher doesn't work - a month ago. No one has been in to look at it yet. Last year we had our shower re-tiled. They didn't even bring the tile up to the height of previous tile so we have torn up wall showing above it. Called the office to complain and they sent the guys back out to repair it - which they filled it in with caulk and didn't smooth it out so it still looks like crap. Oh! And they ripped down my shower curtain while doing it! The office refused to reimburse us for having to purchase a new one.
On top of that, you have to put up with disrespectful kids that consistently destroy property, having your vehicle broken into, dog crap everywhere, no parking, and unfortunately a lot more.
MY suggestion is to stay away from this place. It's gotten so bad that we can't wait for our lease to be up.
