I've been in three different apartments in the last two years at Charter Oaks. One in Building 16 and two different apartments in Building 20. This is a longer review meant to show all sides of living here in 2 years. It's completeness is meant to assist you in making a decision.

We're a young couple that enjoys our peace and quiet but I also understand this is apartment living and anytime you cram as many families as you can into a building there's gonna be noise. Thankfully, it has been very minimal.

I have never really had an issue with parking. There are plenty of parking spaces at most buildings and they plow the lots quite frequently. Kudos to them.

The grounds are well lit near the buildings and I don't fear for mine or my girlfriends safety. There are some obnoxious young people in the community but they seem to be the exception, not the rule. Again, thankfully so.

My current neighbors in Building 20 are amazing. Here are a few examples of them just in the past year:

1.) When my son was born a neighbor wrote a nice note and gave us some formula. I didn't end up using the formula or (I'm sorry to report) writing her back and thanking her, but she was very kind and thoughtful.

2.) When I was replacing my battery in my car, a neighbor brought out a flashlight for us to use.

3.) Before I had replaced my battery I was driving my mother's vehicle. While doing so, it had caught fire at a nearby Wendy's. My girlfriend was driving and understandably upset, so at 11:30pm I knock on my neighbors door and they kindly drive me up there so I can sort out the whole mess. They sit and wait for over an hour and take care of us while we go through it.

Again, some of these you may think aren't that big of a deal, but it's a reminder that there are some people still with a heart and some compassion and I think that's great especially in lower-priced apartments.

I have had to call 911 once though. Someone had cheated on their girlfriend and there was a domestic disturbance to report. Not at the fault of the community, these people could have lived anywhere.

The girls in the office are nice overall. One of them always seem to have a snide look on her face, but the rest are very kind and the office manager (Kristie i think) is great.

Maintenance responds in a timely manner and overall I'm satisfied.

My apartment does leak air like heck though. Even with poor poor insulation my heating costs are still between $40-$100 monthly, which I feel is reasonable.

Overall I'm satisfied with living in Charter Oaks. I'm not without an occasional complaint, but all things considered - I'd recommend moving in. Just make sure you're not the person who makes this overall positive review false. Be considerate of your neighbors, and I think they'll treat you well too. Good luck apartment hunting and you may wanna give Charter Oaks a shot.

do you still live there? my boyfriend and my 5 months old daughter might be moving in the complex where the outside shingles are blue, green, n etc kinda closer to the front office. Is that where you guys live at?
