Good Apts, Bad safety/management

We moved here in June 2007. The apartment quality is pretty nice but management needs to perk up...especially with regards to maintenance and getting back to their residents. They provide a 24x7 repair hotline that apparently doesnt work. We had to constantly bug them to take care of regular maintanence problems viz-a-viz broken toilet, dishwater repair etc. I am not saying that the appliances are bad but that when regular problems occur they should be addressed promptly.
We got a major sense of insecurity while living here since we had several apts and cars broken into. But thats the same for any apt complex in the area and not unique to Lake Village. The management has a bad habit to instantly blaming the residents for any problem without any problem investigation. During the 06-07 winter, the building we live in seems to have suffered from major settling causing big gaps between the floor and walls thus causing poor insulation. Of course there is a major problem with parking and the management fleeces its residents by charging for the carports and garages. Resident satisfaction is not their top priority.
I've lived in several apts and believe that unfortunately this is the worst that I've lived in so far. I dont think I will recommend this to anyone. If you MUST move/live in an apartment in the dearborn area we'd ask you to look elsewhere.

Honestly, I feel as though the comments listed are absurd. I have lived in Lake Village for over 3 years and have not had issues w/ any of the above stated remarks. The Management is great and I have found that they are willing to go over and above the call of duty to make sure the residents are satisfied. Any work order I have called in has been completed in the same day! OK, so there is one garbage dumpster (because this the community is so big, duh) - maybe if all people living here did what the signs at the dumpster actually say to do (throw it to the back of the dumpster) there would not be issues. I see the maintenance guys out every weekend morning doing for a certain few what they should be doing themselves, throwing their garbage away. For all who read the negative comments, think about the people who write them, and them not having anything better to do than complain about everything not going their way. C'mon all, that's just not life.

Complex is too large to have only one dumpster (DUH) that is why you will see pest control monthly to kill the rats, which you will also see because the garbage sits out and piles up every weekend. Even after maintenance (sometimes) comes out on weekends to dump just once. A complex this size needs more than one dumpster and it needs to be dumped at a minimum 2x day. Cops are called her often for not only break-ins and thefts, but also noise with people constantly playing loud music with surround sound. You are charged extra each month for your carport and often have to battle people who park in it. Management no help in that arena. They say there is nothing they can do and that you should call the cops to ticket them. The carpet is thread bare in most apartments and after you have lived here a few years and you ask for it to be replaced because it can't be even cleaned anymore, they say that it's too expensive and the complex doesn't have the money. Yet, they raise your rent again. The pool area is absolutely overrun every weekend by people who don't live here. It's great to pay top dollar in rent to have people driving in by the bus load to use the pool. Avoid this complex.
