The Belcrest is a nicely situated apartment building, it is kept up fairly well but it has a lot more downfalls than positive things about it. The rent isn't bad, but it doesn't include utilities and due to how the heating units are set up, the electric bill is always ridiculous ($15/month for a one bedroom) and the heating units don't even work very well (and I maintain mine by cleaning the air filters and everything). There is wireless internet available and it seems like a good deal at first, but they don't tell you everything and its cheaper to set it up yourself. Parking can be inconvenient and if you can't find a spot because the lot is full, you're on your own. The landlord, Mike, has been known to oversell the spots, which can be a problem. Another problem is the bugs, although this varies depending on where you are in the building. My apartment is fine, but I have friends in other areas of the building who have big problems with cockroaches and such. Lastly, the landlord, Mike, can be a real jerk if you need to talk to him about a problem you're having, even if it's not with him or it's not a big deal. He can be very immature and has been known to yell at and accuse tenants of stuff that's not their fault. He can seem nice at first though.

Overall, I'm looking forward to moving out soon! :-)

woops, that should be $150/month, not $15, I wish!

Mike can be hard to approach. 150 dollars a month for electricity? Even I only got that bad once, and that was because I had huge holes in various parts of the building and only cleaned the filter once a month: the manual sugguests twice a month minimum!

I had a high electricity bill once. But I sent Mike an email about it and they came and sealed the drafts in my windows. HUGE difference! I Have never had a problem with Mike. He is very easy to work with as long as you follow procedure. I would only imagine that dealing with all the people living in 150 apartments can be frustrating at times.

Roaches in the buidling? Enough said!
