I agree with some of the comments listed, there have been some issues at Belcrest; however, improvements have been made. Yes, Michael and the owner should have handled the heating change differently and yes, my lease does state that heat is provided by the landlord and it is clear on that point. I think that's why they decided to offer people credits per unit in their apartment and give people a rent freeze for two years. The heating units have been approved by a building inspector who confirmed they can be used as primary heating for apts as long as they were wired on individual fuse boxes. The result of having the inspector come in to "cover their behinds" as related to the quiet uproar from tenants caused the discovery that the wiring wasn't up to par/too old for these units; so, we have the new ugly wiring and conduit, which I hope they paint over so it blends into the wall. Belcrest has recently been installing new hallway lighting which is awesome...the halls are so much brighter which also makes it safer. The rent is very comparable to other apt. buildings in the area. My door buzzer/bell doesn't work either; but, I could care less about that. I generally know if someone is coming over because I buzz them in via the door phone when they call my apt, which you have to have a "313" number to use. Again, not perfect; but, far from the worst and it is getting better.
