10 year Vet Speaks...

After living here for soooooo long i can say that I know more than most. Let it be said that the regular staff... office personell, Doormen( real doormen like Ralph on the jeffersons!), and the cleaning staff are helpfull and considerate. The other security staff( rent-a-cops who work from 10pm to 6am) are a bunch of ---- individuals who don't have a clue about common manners. The apartments themselves offer breathtaking views of the city no matter which way your apartment faces. Just remember to lower your blinds before you go to work. I spent many an afternoon cooking in my living room after work because i didn't lower them. The area surrounding the Towers is pretty nice and clean. We shared Lafayette park with several other complexes. The cool thing is that the park cannot be seen from any of the surrounding streets. As a result, this semi-private park is rarely used by anyone who does not live or work nearby. A small playground is nearby in addition to an elementry school playground, but the noise from these areas is barly noticable. The swimming pool is located on the roof of the parking structure, making for an interesting afternoon of swimming(in the pool) or people watching(from your apartment). The laundry rooms are located in the basement. 16 washers and dryers make laundry a snap. Its also a great place to meet your single neighbors( they should charge a cover sometimes!) Parking can be a problem. Spaces are limited and guest parking fills up quickly. There have been a rash of vehicle thefts, so that is a black mark. It doesn't matter if you park in the lot, visitors parking, the parking structure or on the street. You run the risk of having your vehicle damaged (MLK homes is 100 yards to the south/east!) The lobbys are always clean and are very spacious. Pound for pound, The Towers are the best living to be had for the money in the area. Elevator waits can be a hassel somtimes, but a little mental toughness can handle that. Also the tennants are cool, but there are some unsavory sorts about. Every year managment throws a few nice parties for all tenants on top of the structure, complete with catered food, live bands, DJ's and refreshments for adults and kids. Loved living here but after 10 long ones... had to give uo my keys. Moved in when I was 20 years old. No regrets. Just lots of fond memories of watching the fireworks from my apartment.
