I am at the end of the first quarter of my years lease and I do not have major complaints.
Some prior reviews have touted the temperature, smells and community. To this I interject that urban hi-rise living is not for everyone. You can easily spot the tenants that are going through suburb withdrawal. Fortunately, the majority of us are pleasant, courteous and are ok in a Caucasian, Black, Asian, Indian, Arabic community. For me the (True) ethnic and generational diversity, including the olfactory component, is one of the highest draws to Lafayette Towers.
Yes, it is cool in the winter but not freezing. Yes, it is Hot in the summer, until you turn on the air. Yes, there is some pain involved with parking but NOTHING like Chicago. Again, city living aint for everybody
I rarely hear my neighbors. I have had nothing but good experiences with management. Maintenance is prompt. Pool is large, clean, elevated and has picnic/party areas on either side. Workout room is top notch. The views are priceless. The local grade school is ranked in the Michigan top 50. And, did I mention the abundance of working, educated singles'!
The only thing I would change about my living space is my proximity to the lights in the parking lot. (Get above the sixth floor if you can)
