I have lived on this property almost 30 years and have loved until the last couple of years, when we were being sold and now the new owners have taken us to NEW LOWS! Many of us are looking for new residences because the ongoing issues are too numerous to take. How about non-functioning elevators every other day, and no water or heat on too many occasions to note.

I am so sorry that after 30 wonderful years at Lafayette Towers you have to consider moving out. I am moving out for the very reasons you stated. Most all tenants I run into are looking into other places to live. To the person considering renting at Lafayette Towers - don't! The management company does not care at all about our lack of heat and water. Nor do they care about the appearance of this magnificent building. I tried calling, emailing, and writing them letters and have received no response. And that's because they are slumlords.

Today we recieved a letter stating that over the next 90 days all the elevators will be upgraded to new status. We also found out that management installed a back up water pumping sytem, to make sure if the main pump goes down, the backup will kick on. Seems like the slumlord isnt slumming anymore.

The new managment was slow to get going but it is now May 09 and many things have improved. I would still recomend this apt building.

Do not rent here. the place is an absolute disaster. I moved out three months ago and am still waiting on my security deposit. cars are frequently stolen from the parking lot, the halls are dirty, and the management staff is incompetent. I asked for an elevator TWO months in advance of my move out date and they failed to deliver. Also, I hand delivered (twice) and mailed (with delivery confirmation) my intent to vacate the premises, and they "lost" all three communications. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE BAFOONS.
