I moved to Detroit from a large, densely populated, hip city where I lived for 12 years. I had to live in Detroit for a year and had no clue where to live, while also fearing for my life as a female living on her own. Let me start by mentioning that the Millender center leasing office was the best I have worked with, and I have rented for 12 years, and dealt with a plethora of nightmare leasing agents. She was patient, professional and incredibly accurate in her descriptions of the apartment. In reading this, you must know that I did not get a chance to look at the apartment prior to moving in (I was overseas). We managed the paperwork (she was wonderful with that too) while I was out of the country, so you can imagine how anxious I was to move into this apt complex. The moment I opened the door to my 1 bed unit, I gasped. The view was amazing, best I have ever had. Sparkling clean, and very spacious with multiple closets. I am a female who lived alone, so security was certainly a concern. Have no doubt that this building is full of female professionals and grad students. The security personnel were very pleasant, and the overall system is strict and remarkable. The units are VERY quiet (concrete walls) and my neighbor was a dear to be next to. Remember that you can play tennis, swim, and go to the gym all without leaving your building, and I was using the gym fanatically. Best of all, this building is your key to discovering the hidden gems of downtown Detroit (auto shows, festivals, skating downtown detroit, river events). Everyone I worked with were super jealous that I didn't even need to step out of my building to be at the riverfront or the fabulous GM building. While you do need a little city-nature to deal with some of the game night traffic or other happenings downtown, remember it doesn't come close to NYC, LA, or Boston in its density. Besides, when all the suburbanites are hauling their cars to the city for an event, all you have to do it step out your door! The garage is covered, safe and highly convenient. Since I arrived from work after 5pm, finding a space was NEVER EVER an issue. I had 2 management issues, both were resolved that same day. I LOVED THIS APT, and was tearing up when I gave back my keys to all the security and management who protected me and looked out for me during my stay. I had a great impression of Detroit, and Millender center was the biggest reason. I AM NOT part of the management nor was I paid to write this!!

I have lived at Millender Center for years. It is very simply, the best of the best. I can walk to and from work or take the People Mover. The staff is professional and helpful, and any problem is dealt with and taken care of immediately. The public areas are kept very clean, and as a widow, I'm grateful for the safety and security of the apartments, and the helpfulness of the staff, and the attached parking garage. It is so nice to come "home" after work and look out at Belle Isle, the Detroit River and the passing ships. I would highly recommend Millender Center Apartments to anyone and everyone. Downtowner
