We lived there in the late 20's to the 40'S when it was still posh. 2 Open wrought iron stairwells and 2 open wrought iron elevators to the 11th floor dining rooms, ball rooms and orchestra. Each floor had 2 bachelor apartments, (4) 7 room apartments, one 9 room (ours on the Jefferson side) and a huge 7 room on the river side. Maids used the freight elevator - only - while chauffers waited in a special room off the wrought iron enclosed lobby. The office had an enormous safe, the mail was delivered to your door. Gleaming polished brass entries, mahogany paneling throughout, hand laid tile in halls & baths, marble sinks etc. etc. I have thousands of memories.

This apartment appear to have been a posh apartment building during the 20's & 3030's. The doors still have mail slots- no longer used, the door bell apperatus is still there - no longer used. The maids and butlers are gone. There is no special room nor wrough iron enclosed lobby. No gleaming polished brass entries, only remnants of mahogny paneling with dirty hand laid tile in the hallways on the residential floors. The bathroom have seen its better days and in dire need of updating. The elevator is etremly hot in the summer time -- no ventilation. Oh - there are no open wroght iron stairwells, elevators nor 11th floor dinning rooms, ball rooms, and orchestra. The people that live there now will have memories but not fond ones. The building is not handicapp assessible, The wiring is horrible, this apartment building makes the Bates Motel look like a resort. The basement is a place where women and real men stay away from, if you live here the laundry room is in the basement. Managemnet is forever cutting services to the tenant to avoid cost. The front door intercom is not working, visitors have to use their cell phones to call residents to come down and open the door. No one keeps the building lookine its best. Residents have to make sure paper debri is not in the hallways on their respective floor. Ants are a big problem. However it has its advantages, the skyline view is magnificent. The proximity to work, and entertainment. Not good for visitors, parking is bad - meter attendants circle the area routinely, giving out tickets to residents whom do not have a parking permit for the small parking lot, and their guest. Pasedena LLc -owners, Please invest in this building, make it the gem it once was and it will attract high end residents from Detroit, and its surrounding area, and it would be a plus for you, Detroit, and its surrounding community.
