I've lived here for two years. I have a dog and don't have many other options as far as apartment living goes downtown. I love the grounds, I love the fact that there is a salon, market and bar on the grounds. But the management is not the best. The security alarm is a joke. It has never worked...don't allow the leasing agent to "sell" you on that point since they cannot fix the system.
I was hoping that the tenants would have been polled about management when the new owners took over. they didn't and some of the problems came with them.
Unfortunately, I have to relocate to another city to get the amenities that I have enjoyed here and to be able to have my dog.
I'm very concerned about the constant revolving door here. People don't seem to stay long. It seems I have new neighbors all the time. This time, there are some on my floor that seem to use weed like most of us use oxygen. The halls are constantly "lit up", morning and night. That's an incentive to move also. I've enjoyed my time here, but am glad to be moving on. It is expensive to live in Detroit and for what you get...I no longer believe it is worth it.
Once you pay for parking, and the health club and the assessed utility fee...the place can be more pricey than its worth too.

Way over priced with rude rude unprofessional people. The store: 5 dollars for a pint of ice cream, 5 dollars for a 1/2 gallon of milk, 4 dollars for a slice of cake. The Dry cleaners: 4 dollars a shirt, 5 dollars for pants. Hair Salon: 30 dollar haircuts which should be 10. Parking 45 dollars for one spot. Gym 45 dollars. 5 dollars to get into the building in a different car even if your car is not currently on the lot -simply "because we know you live here". I have always lived in professional upscale buildings my whole life in NY and Philadelphia, and this place is absolutely atrocious for what they charge. I was paying the same amount to live in a luxury tower in philadelphia with full concierge service (people opening doors for you and running your errands for you) and assigned garage parking in Center City (The St. James). I always took it for granted and probably should not have. This place calls itself luxury - they don't even know what luxury is.
