I just got a letter from them saying that if you don't sign up for renter's insurance they will mandatorily charge you 9.95 per month under a group rate. There is some penalty if you don't. They are also getting rid of paper statements and charging 3 dollars for a written statement. They said "refer to your lease agreement"... usually if a company gets rid of your paper statement you should be able to access your statement online... there definitely is no statement online.. which means less people catching mistakes on their statement ... which there are definitely mistakes (I had to correct overcharges 3 times over the last 2 years - not once was i UNDERcharged). They do charge you 10 dollars a month for buzzing which is why I dont have a buzzer. They charge you if your contact phone is not a 313 area code phone. If you are thinking of having a huge party for fireworks or red bull air run think twice. $20 dollar per car limited parking and limited mandatory plastic wrist bands. Also - the dry cleaners - I never use because they charge $6.50 per pants and $5.00 per shirt... Hair salon - I would not pay 35 dollars for a haircut there. I don't know if the lowered it after the economy tanked but i think still overpriced for what its worth.

oh yeah, 250 dollars fixed fee plus 25 dollars per month PER PET for pet rent (cats and dogs).

ALSO ANOTHER THING: There have been multiple occasions - sometimes in the middle of winter where there is NO HOT WATER. The longest period is for a couple of days, and they tell you to use the showers at the gym.... always there is some reason - frozen pipe broken part, etc etc...

Oh yeah also when i initially moved in i tried to get the referral which at the time was 500 dollars... they made up some reason and told me no, they couldn't give my friend that referred me the money because i mentioned her name on the day i came in to choose an apartment to sign, not my initial visit to look around. i don't know i thought that was bs to have to mention someone's name when you are looking around at multiple building complexes. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
