crack addict found in my wife's car!!!

My wife was on her way to work and stepped into the riverfronts "secured" parking structure, stood next to her drivers side door and saw a crack addict asleep in her drivers seat!!!!!!! The addicts clothing was half off, had no shoes on and sound asleep in my wife's car!! When management was notified about the incident we were given the "flux" about getting out of our lease! My wife does not feel safe just like any other woman in this situation, but the apt. management is giving us the hardest time about letting us get out of our lease which is completely unfair and unethical! If their wife or loved one was in this situation they would want to be treated fair and let out of their lease for not feeling safe in a gated community! The Crack Addict could have done anything to my wife and i think the managements attitude was very uncourteous! I do NOT recommend anyone to this place!

How did she know the person was a crack addict? Was he doing crack in the car? Although it is unfortunate that security is poor could it have just been a homeless person?

How did this "crack addict" get into the car? You didn't mention a break in. If she left the car unlocked, that is her own fault! And sorry but that stuff can happen anywhere...especially in downtown Detroit...a lease is a legally binding contract and you can't just get out of it for something like this. You knew the risks of living in Detroit going into this, or at least you should have!

You have the legal right to be let out of your lease for this reason. I would contact a lawyer right away. It does not take a doctor to see a crack addicted person by sight. I would not let this go if it were my lease. Contact the housing laws in the city online and remind the office of them if you need to.
