Best Apartments in Detroit

I can't afford a home and apartment living is much easier an convenient for me. Unfortunately, I don't make enough money to move to Oakland County where I work so I have been forced to stay in the city. I have viewed and lived in several apartment communities in Detroit and they are all run down and raggedy. None of them have amenities and need to be torn down re-built from scratch. Sherwood Heights Apartments were the only apartments in northwest Detroit that I considered suitable for me and my 6-yr. old son. I have lived in Sherwood Heights Apts for 2 years now and I am extremely pleased. I love the gated entry and security is always on duty... 24/7. Maintenence is top notch. I usually have a 24 hour turnaround time on all of my requested repairs. Management was terrible when I first got there in 2007, but the new property manager, Brett, seems to be about business. There are washers and dryers in every building which saves me trips to the laundomat! The community is very friendly, diverse, and family-oriented. They pay for heat and water which is great for those like me who are financially challenged. :-) It would be nice for some upgrades to the outward appearance of the apartments. They look kinda prison-ish. Lol. But, overall I think Sherwood Heights has lived up to my expectations and I would definitely recommend others.
