DON't MOVE HERE!!!!!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/2/2006
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
We thought moving to Eastpoint Townlets would be nice. We have two dogs and the residential neighborhood setting seemed like a good idea.
However...
The floors are REALLY unlevel here. The whole complex settled funny, so everything is slanted (floor lamps, tables, basically anything you put on the floor.) Not a big deal, you say'
Okay, how about this' We live on the , ground floor, and about two months after we moved in last August (2005), a nasty plugged-toilet sewage smell started seeping in from somewhere. It seriously smelled like we were living in the sewer. It made us physically ill. We called the management, and they sent out some maintenace people (who were really nice) but never really tried to take care of the problem. Needless to say, the smell hasn't gone away. It comes and goes. It's so embarrassing that we can't even invite people over. And no, we aren't disgusting people causing the sewage smell. It has even seeped into the apartments above us and beside us.
And if that weren't bad enough, in early December, our place flooded. Because the dumbass idiots of the management failed to turn on the heat in the vacant apartment above us. So the pipes froze and burst, flooded the kitchen upstairs, and all that water came pouring down into our apartment. Our ceiling was ruined (they spent 2 weeks cutting the ceiling and putting it back together again, and the carpet was soaking wet, and they just brought this huge, loud, dehumidifier to dry out the place. It was running day and night, and we were charged with the electrical bill for running it.
The water temperature control is absolutely horrible. It's either freezing cold, or scalding. When your hot water starts to run out, so you turn back on the cold water, you expect it to remain hot for a little while longer. However, it gets colder faster. We saw a rodent of some sort a few weeks ago that disappears to who knows where. The energy bill is apalling... gas alone went through the roof, as high as $120 during the winter months (electricity not included). And this was keeping the thermostat at 60. We live on the ground floor, so we were FREEZING all the time. Also, very few people pick up after their dogs - some just let their dogs poop on the freaking sidewalk - it's so disgusting. The management was also supposed to give us rent credit for the hardships we endured, but they can't decide whether it's $300 or $350, and the girl who arranged that for us doesn't even work there anymore. so who knows what's going to happen.
It sucks and we can't wait to move out!
