I've been at Homestead Apartments for approximately 1 year now, and have had a pleasant experience all around. As a law student looking for a quiet place close to everything, I found what I was looking for. For the price, the one-bedrooms were more spacious than many I looked at on the east & west side of town(and with more storage space than most, in my opinion).

As far as maintenance service, I've only had one issue with my garbage disposal in the entire year I've been here. It was fixed promptly (within the day I put in the request). They do a pretty good job keeping up with the snow plowing in the winter, important given MI winters (I wish I could say the same for the city!) I see others have mentioned water temperature, but I haven't had any problems with that. I'd also vouch for those who speak to the friendliness of the office staff.

The only real problems I've had occurred in conjunction with my move-in and really aren't huge things--I was told that the walls would be cream-colored (they were white when I moved in), and I wasn't able to get any help from maintenance with move-in (a slight pain to move in on the 3rd floor with no elevator). Overall, it's been a pleasant experience, and I plan on staying here until finished with school. Would recommend for a graduate/law student planning to study at either MSU or Cooley, or young professionals period.
