Melrose is the worst place I have ever lived. It?s not a problem with my roommates or neighbors, but the complex itself. When I first moved in my toilet was running and leaking water on my floor. I called and called and finally someone came to fix it but they didn?t do it correctly because as soon as I returned from school it was leaking again. So I called and complained for a month and then they finally fixed it. When I would call they would tell me that it was not an "emergency" so they weren?t going to worry about it. The girl across the hall from me had the same exact problem with her toilet. Just as they had done with me they ignored her complaint. She left and when she returned 2 hours later her toilet had overflowed soaking all the carpet and all of her things in her room. It leaked all the way into her living room destroying half the carpet. My roommates have had a lot of similar complaints, not with toilets but other things and were handled in the same manner. Then they decided to "crack down" on the people that were coming into the apartments. I had to go through so much crap just so they would let me boyfriend come in to see me. But somehow I guess the "crack down" wasn?t enough because the people below me got robbed at gun point! Now it is November and due to a family emergency I am needed back home, when I gave them my written notice they told me that I had to pay out the remainder of my lease which is until the end of May. They said it was in the lease, but there are things in the lease that they have not kept there end of the deal with, so I think I should be allowed to leave. I do not feel safe here and I have to wait forever if I need something fixed. I want out!
