Where to start...
When you initially inquire about an apartment, everything is explained to you in vague terms. If you decide to go through with a lease, you have to put down $300 before even seeing the terms of the lease. The lease itself is roughly 23 pages, and while I attempted to briefly read it over as I signed, the employee working with me made fun of me.
After you sign, you don't even get a copy of the lease to keep until you move in months later. When I got my folder with copies of everything I'd signed, it had copies of some of my roommate's paperwork in it. They mistakenly gave me a copy of her parents' credit report, complete with their credit card number and personal information. They're obviously not careful there, so who knows what tenants have YOUR information'
My bills have consistently been messed up since I moved in. They tell me how much my utilities are, I pay them, and then the next month I have to pay extra for the mistakes that the leasing office made the previous month. There is some strange unnamed $75 charge on my bill every month, but nobody in the office can seem to tell me what it is. It's impossible to actually get in touch with the billing department. Everytime you call or stop in, they are "at lunch," no matter what time of day it is.
I live on the first floor, close to a wooded area and I go through a can of Raid about once a week. I have grasshoppers, crickets, daddy long legs, box elder bugs, japanese ladybugs, and I even get earthworms in my bathroom. I called maintenance and it took about three weeks for a pest control guy to come here. He entered my apartment without knocking and proceeded to tell me there was nothing we could do but "burn the forest down." What a professional. A spider here and there I can deal with, but I draw a line at worms in my bathroom. It is now two months later and I've made repeated attempts to get help combating the bug problem. They say they'll send someone over, but nothing ever happens.
The apartments are pretty great in themselves; I have no complaints there. I don't hear my neighbors often and nothing has broken. These apartments have their share of problems, which is to be expected, but nobody will help you if you need it. I will not be renewing my lease next August. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax
