We just moved out of our apartment at the Pines after living there for three years. We had an apartment on the middle floor of building C. For the most part, I loved living at the Pines. The apartments are very spacious, with good amenities, including ample parking. It is generally a fairly quiet community. You are right across the street from a bus that goes to campus as well as the Northern Tier trail for walking, biking, etc. You're also not far from the Aquatic Center and Soccer Complex, so the location is pretty nice.

I only have one major complaint about the apartment, which is probably similar across all of East Lansing: The students. Most of the residents of the Pines and the neighboring apartment complex, Ville Montee, are students. I don't have a problem with students in general, but I think students often treat their apartments as temporary housing and aren't very conscious of non-students who live near them. There were some neighbors who were definitely better than others, so I think your happiness at the Pines really depends on who you've got living next to you.

I never had any problem with the management company, DTN Management. There is a resident manager onsite who is accessible and very willing to help for any reason. I know people who have horror stories about DTN, but if you pay on time and keep your receipts just in case (I never needed them), there's no problem.
