Although the rent seems like a good deal because it includes internet and cable, the pest problems and the noise from the train outweigh these benefits. Our apartment faced the double train tracks (many of the apartments are located near the intersection where the train intersects with a road) so you constantly are being awakened by train horns (sometimes the frequency is up to every half hour). There is not an option to change to an apartment assigned further back if you are bothered by the noise.
The maintenance is very nice and responsive, but unfortunately the roach problem is out of control. Our apartment was professionally sprayed by a person maintenance contracts out to, FOUR times in one semester. In addition to this, we bought 2 packs of roach "hotels" (traps) - a total of 20 - and had two Raid insect killer bottles on hand constantly. NOTHING helped, and this is for a small apartment. I wish the University offered nicer housing in addition to the dorms, however, between the trains and the insect problems, I would not recommend this.
