Except that it's not really funny. Honestly, I have lived here for almost a semester and I already HATE this place. Let me run down a list of the things that have already happened to me. The first month living in my brand new apartment, there was a leak in my bathroom and the ceiling began to cave in, falling into the bathtub. We called about the problem right away and everyone at the office gave us the run around. It took maintenance two weeks to even look at the problem and even then they just partially fixed it and left the ceiling in our tub for another half a week. Shortly after that episode, the sprinkler system from the apartment above us went off flooding both of our apartments and the one below ours. This was a serious situation and it was not handled seriously at ALL. Again everyone at the office gave us the run around, all telling us different things. They threw us in another apartment temporarily which had not even been cleaned from when the last tennants had moved out. We had no shower curtains, no lights in the bedrooms and the stove didn't work. Everytime we went into the office everyone acted like we were a hassle to deal with and no one wanted to help us. We were out of our apartment for a total of two weeks and management refused to do anything to compensate us. We had to have meeting after meeting for them to even consider giving us money off of our rent and even then they didn't compensate us completely for the two weeks that we were out of out apartment. This goes to show that the staff does not care about their tenants. In addition to these major problems are countless little problems such as the ethernet never working (which you are paying for in your rent total). Take all of the warnings seriously about keeping all of your reciepts because this place will find any way possible to rip you off. Half way through the semester they employed a new accountant and had a problem with their computer system, losing records of many past payed rents. The accountant then found it neccesary to send out letters to countless tenants (my roomate and I being two of them)stating outrageous balnces that were past due and calling guarantors. They sent my gurantor an eviction notice and a couple days later a renewal letter claiming I was a "valued resident". . .HA! I agree that the employees are probably the ones that are writing the only good ratings on here. My roomate wrote something on here and the next day when we met with the manager she accused us of writing "nasty things" about the apartment on this site and on allmsu.com. They DO go on these websites and they DO read everything that we write, so it wouldn't be a shock if they were to write things as well. I know that there are a lot of other unhappy people that live or have lived at The Village. I think that we should go to the State News with this or do something because we, as residents, deserve to be happy, especially since we're paying an arm and a leg to stay here. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
