Good and bad

The overall theme to Chandler Crossing is that it works out well for some and unfortunately, very bad for others. I am currently in my second year living here, and so far I have been very satisfied. Unfortunately, I seem to be in the extreme minority. I have spoken with many residents here, not just a select group of my own friends. No one should be so unreasonable as to expect an apartment free of wear and tear, but many of the conditions that I PERSONALLY WITNESSED, as well as heard horror stories about are truly inexcusable, and display a clear indifference and negligence on the part of Chandler Crossing management.

Chandler Crossings has an entire week in August, in between tenants, that they claim to set aside for cleaning and maintenance of the now-vacant apartments. As a renewing tenant, I did indeed see staff cleaning during this time, but it clearly did not get the job done. I helped a friend move into another apartment here, and there were MAGGOTS all over the kitchen counter. This is not a joke. I saw several apartments that had miscellaneous furniture in them left behind by past tenants, food smeared on walls, animal urine on carpeting (that clearly had not even been attempted to be cleaned off by the Village's "highly skilled maintenance"), etc. Again, I emphasize that tenants should expect wear and tear, a few stains here and there, but if a complex sets aside AN ENTIRE WEEK to clean all apartments, they owe their new tenants, unsuspecting of the deeds of the old, and undeserving of these inexcusable conditions apartment, a reasonably well-maintained place to live, PARTICULARLY when their motto is that they provide "luxury accomodations"!

I am a law student at MSU and I do not recommend this place for undergraduates. I live in a one bedroom apartment, and my building is very quiet. In almost two years, there have been very few noise problems at all. The one and two bedroom units appear to be in substantially better condition than the 3 and 4 bedrooms which are often in abysmal shape, and are extremely noisy. As a female, I feel very safe here- it is well-lit and there are reliable deadbolts on the doors. For me, this is a huge asset, and a primary reason why I stay here. The workout facilities are nice, however it is clear that the overall building quality of the apartments is below par, cheap even. The management staff leaves a LOT to be desired. There are some nice activities that they put on, however it appears that some of the money used for the "pizza party" and "pool bonanza" would be better spent on a few extra cans of cleaning fluid.
