I think these apartments are much like pizza that has been on the kitchen counter for two days: While you want to eat it, you know that taking a bite will result in very much pain, and possibly death.
The Village is rotten to the core. While I lived there, they totally overhauled the office staff 4 times! Not only will you never know anyone, the people that are still there are pretty much 'survivors' that are either mean as hell or brown nosers. That isn't even mentioning their organizational system.
Possibly the most telling experience occured after I had moved out. I recieved a letter, containing my security deposit. Well the joke was on me. They not only said that a stain on the couch and a broken miniblind cost $100, but they also claimed that I had not paid my rent for my last month, and I actually owed THEM around $300. Well, after sending them a handwritten reciept for my last months rent, along with a copy of the check they cashed (Thanks to MSUFCU!) they seemed to go away.
Maintenance is a joke. My internet didn't work in my room for over 9 months. It was 'fixed' around 5 times. You have to stuff towels or something under your door to stop the cold air from getting in. The stove handle will fall off at least twice.
Oh, and I hope you have no friends, because they aren't welcome. Well, I suppose they could walk there. Additionally, there are no parking spots anywhere near your building, ever. It's the worst of both worlds.
The only time I have ever encountered 'security' was when I was having a 'party'. My 'party' consisted of 5 friends watching football, at normal volume. Sitting in chairs. The security was strangely absent when people would destroy everything in the hallway every weekend.
Enother enjoyable ammenity experience: The weight room is the size of my kitchen. This does not serve a community of 1000 very well. Along with the two whole tanning beds, they really overdid themselves.
Basically, if you can't tell from reviews on here, you would have to be sort of insane to live there. I was duped because I signed a lease before the place was actually constructed, but you have no excuse.
