Pay maintanance well and it may be OK

When you come to Citation the first thing you see is the beautiful landscape. Yes, landscape is very important to get you in, so maintenance works hard to keep it the best in the area, may be very hard. The sprinklers work 6 months a year even if it's snow. Yes, these sprinklers are directed randomly, so don't you be surprised if your mailbox is full of water, or your car gets some rust, or you can't get home because of the artificial shower pouring on your porch. Sometimes I think the sprinklers may be the reason for all sorts of mold and algea growing on the walls inside.

The maintanance seem to be the biggest problem in Citation. The owners seem to save up a lot of money on stuff salaries. So there are may be only 1 or 2 guys who can really fix something, others are useless. It is absolutely impossible to arrange an appoitment with the maintenance, so they come when they want (if they want at all). They often open your door with their keys without knocking. The funniest cases is when you're inside half-naked. For the small problems it doesn't take maintenance too much time to fix, but for more complex - it may take forever. Some drainages are clogged deep under the apartments, so you may have an awfull smell and water staying in your sink. I have no electric outlet in may apartment that could be safe. The gas fireplace is large, so in winter, if you don't use it, cold wind blows from it making heating system waste your money. My fireplace was not working properly from the beginning and maintenance is still not able to fix it even after 3 years of rent!

The office stuff is well trained to work with people. They are increadibly polite and smile all time. And at the same time being polite they treat you like you are a complete idiot. If tell them by phone to report a problem to maintenance they often forget it. It is generally better to come and make sure they write down what you are reporting. The only time they happy to see you is when you bring a check.

The great things are: the indoor pool, gym and sauna. Indoor pool was actually the main reason why I moved to Citation. But, very often maintenance guys don't care of temperature of the water. So, the pool is useless if the water temperature is 47F.

Don't you even think to get into one of the "specials". In Citation "special" means "lemon". Still, each year your rental goes $50 anyway.

Yes, when I moved in my kitchen cabinets were greasy and broke and maintenance didn't do anything about it. I suspect however that they took some money out of the previous occupants' security deposit.

Other funny thing is the gated entrance. They close it at 6pm, when some people come from work. So, sometimes there is a litle traffic jam before the gate. Anyway, approximately at 1am they open it. Welcome home, criminals! Well, Farmington Hills is not really criminal area, so my opinion is having a guard on duty from 6pm to 1am is waste of money.

Overall, I would recommend Citation Club. Simply because others aren't better. I'm not sure you may find a better place for your money in Oakland County. And, if something goes wrong, think of those people in North Korea. They are probably living in much worth conditions than you are. :))
