Hello,
I have been a resident of Farmington Hills almost my whole life. I have moved out of my house to live at the Citation Club Apartments in Farmington Hills,MI. Which is owned by Beztak. I just want to share my overwhelming concerns with this company/corporation. 3 years ago I lived in this apartment community for $650 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. Which was great but due to my fathers illness I decided to move back home. When he passed away I decided to move out again, and the first place I thought of was Citation Club Apartments. They were so eager and happy to get me in an apartment right away. When I asked why the apartment prices skyrocketed they said because of new renovations and additional services.
The first two months were very stressful for me. The apartment had needed many adjustments which were not taken care of at the time of move in. Also when I first moved in I signed a piece of paper stating I would like to recieve a phone call before anyone from the apartment decides to enter. Well I called for my bathtub to get drained out because it kept on filling up due to the clog. I am at home basically all hours of the day. Ever since I moved in I have repeatedly encountered the staff of citation club walking into my apartment with no work order or not even a phone call. The first time I woke up at 10 in the morning to find a guy named Mike from Citation Club standing in my kitchen. As soon as he looked at me he said ''your all set have a good day'' I asked who are you and what are you doing in my apartment and then he responded saying ''oh well you requested a work order right''' and I said that was a week ago and somebody was already out here and fixed that. He then said ''oh man sorry about that, oh well see ya'' Let me just say that he was holding a rack that went to my freezer (nothing to do with the bath tub or sink). I was in such shock I didnt even know what to say as he was walking out. I called Citation club and spoke to Paige (general manager) She said that the apartment was allowed to come in at any time, than i said then why did i sign a paper stating i would not like anyone to enter unless i got a phone call. She went on to say 'oh well ill let them know for next time'. The following week I was again encountered with the a different guy whom i dont know his name but he was a lot older than the rest of the guys and always wheres a backwards baseball hat. This time me and my girlfriend were in the middle of making love when this guy out of nowhere walked in ..looked and said ''oops sorry bout that'' Without getting up I immediately called the office and spoke to Paige who said she wasnt aware of any work order. And was implying that I was blowing it out of proportion. Well I dont know about you but I think that anybody walking in on two people in their most intimate moments is probably something to not take lightly especially when that person has no right of being there. When i asked for the guys name after describing him she would not release it . I then said i need it so i can file a complaint But she still resisted. Than she said she promises she'll get to the bottom of this and resolve the issue. Well I called about everyday for two weeks. Only finding that nobody answered my phone call and when someone did Paige was nowhere to be found. I then went to the office to look for Paige (whom i dont know what she looks like) The lady told me that it was Paige's day off. For some reason I didnt believe this lady because of her nervousness. Later that day I asked my girlfriend to walk in and pretend like she was buying an apartment. Come to find out the lady she spoke to was infact Paige. Who fit the same description of the same lady I talked to just hours before. After that I was just fed up and decided to walk in and speak to the lady herself. I was being very polite and understanding, she apologized and gave me her word that nobody would enter my apartment again. And ill give credit where its due nobody came back after that, but only for about a few months.
Well its been 9 months now and I have to say that their werent any renovations, and the service is absolutely horrible. I had a huge bug problem in my apartment for 10 days. For 10 days I was calling and complaining about the spider and bug problem. They stated that there was nothing they can do until Wednesday (it was then the sunday before). When wednesday came, nobody came. I talked to my neighbors who shared the same problem and 1 out of 3 said that they did in fact come. The rest of us were outraged. When I called the office they said that they never were even out here, and that I wasnt even on the list. Let me remind you that I was calling everyday speaking to Paige who is the General Manager and also speaking with Fran and Melissa. None of them even knew I was talking to the other. I had to sleep at the Holiday Inn spending $60 a night for the next 5 days until they finally came when I said I was going to contact the Better Business Bureau.
Well now Its getting warm outside and im not a big fan of heat, I weigh 300 lbs so I prefer air-condition pretty much all the time. When I came home last night I immediately noticed that the air-condition was not working. My bills are all up to date so I knew it wasnt shut off. When I called their emergency answering service the lady said that what I was calling for wasnt an emergency, I explained to her that my apartment was scorching hot and I was extremely uncomfortable. She than repeated what she told me. She also added on that unless it was 80 degrees outside that they werent going to even come to my apartment. Well I was very much annoyed and decided I had to sleep at a hotel again. When this morning came around I called the office and they basically said the exact same thing. I was completely outraged stating that they should of atleast said to me when signing the lease that air-condition is not a priority, and that this is ridiculous for $950 a month. She then hung up the phone on me. I called back twice only to find that Paige the General Manager would mock me, laugh and then hang up on me again.
I just cannot believe that Citation Club Apartments are taking advantage of other peoples misfortunes. I spoke to a friend that used to work their a long time ago and he said that they were raising the prices because they knew that a lot of people were losing their homes and that they were taking advantage of the situation because they know that theres a high demand for apartments because homes are too much. So they raised the price to make more money. Well ill say that not any of the other communities around me are raising their prices except for this one. This is a multi-billion dollar company and I believe one guy owns it. For a billionaire to make a few extra bucks and rip off and take advantage of the American public is crazy! This has been the worst living experience of my life. I have enough on my plate as it is with my father passing away and these people have made it so much harder to go on about my daily life it is unbelievable that they're charging me $950 a month for the exact same thing I used to pay $650 three years ago.
I dont know how they can keep a straight face and charge people this outrageous price without offering anything different, new or more. Instead the customer service has been horrible. The apartment is extremely small and needs to be improved as far as the air-conditioning goes and the insect problem. I am stuck in this apartment for just a few more weeks and am happily moving down the road to someplace at the very least reasonable with their pricing. I believe you guys should do a report/investigation of some kind. I believe this is a great story for the concernced public. I just wanted to share so nobody else has to suffer the experience my neighbors and I have. They are stuck in their apartment for another year and cant offered to break the lease agreement. These people would just short of harrassing me when it came time to pay the bill. Usually residents are given a 5-day grace period. Well they would have a letter threating to use legal action on the 3rd of every month. It would be taped on my door for my neighbors to see. Even when I still had a few days to pay. I dont know how these people sleep at night! Thanks for listening to my story.

PS. GO TO MAINSTREET VILLAGE 3 MILES AWAY. I NOW LIVE THERE AND IT IS THE PLACE OF MY DREAMS. $200 MORE A MONTH BUT UNBELIEVABLY WORTH EVERY DOLLAR. YOU HAVE VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF. YOUR OWN 2 CAR GARAGE. AND THE BEST OF ALL ITS TWICE THE SQUARE FOOTAGE. CITATION WAS 780 SQ. FT. - MAINSTREET APARTMENT IS 1501 SQ. FT. AND TEN TIMES NICER. THE DAY I LEFT CITATION THE GIRL WORKING BY THE NAME OF KATIE LOOKED AT ME LIKE SHE HATED MY GUTS. AS WELL AS HAVING AN ATTITUDE WHEN I TURNED MY KEYS IN. PLEASE LISTEN WHEN I TELL YOU THAT THIS PLACE IS OLD. THE WIRING IS ALL OLD THE APARTMENT IS LIKE A BUNKER IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

I also live at Citation club (have for 2 years, and will be renewing my lease), and have to say that your review sounds like that of a whiny child. Of course they can raise prices. They are a business, not a charity. To think that none of the other apartment companies in the area will not/are not raising their prices because they want to help "poor lil' hard working me" is truly naive. We live in a capitalistic society....prices for goods in high demand (in this case, apartments) will go up. If you don't like a supply/demand economy, you'll need to move farther away than a few miles. I'd suggest communist China or Cuba. Additionally, if you don't want to be embarrassed about having a note on your door reminding you to pay your rent, pay it before the first of the month when it is actually due. Regarding the A/C issues....their policy clearly states that if it isn't above 85 degrees outside, a broken a/c is not an emergency. Being morbidly obese doesn't change that policy, or make your need for a/c an emergency, or more important than service calls placed before yours. To me it sounds like the office staff were just trying to explain that to you, and you felt that your condition entitled you to service before others. How very self-important. EVERYONE here pays rent; I pay more than you did (for a larger apartment), and somehow, I manage to understand that for non-emergencies, I have to wait my turn. All service requests I've placed have been answered within 48 hours. I received a brand new dishwasher on the 3rd day I lived here because ours was broken beyond repair. They have also: repaired my outlets, unclogged my drains, fixed my hot water heater, replaced my master bedroom window, fixed my bathtub/shower faucet, and fixed my A/C (within 6 hours of my complaint, on a day in which the temp was 92 degrees). Before I even moved in, I was not pleased with the way the apartment was cleaned, or the finish on the kitchen cabinets....they re-cleaned the apartment and re-finished the cabinets that week. Additionally, I've never been surprised by a maintenance worker. They knock loudly, and yell "hello, Maintenance" numerous times each time they've entered my apartment. As far as the bug "issue" is concerned, do you honestly think that all buildings are bug free? Yes, I've found the occasional spider around the apartment, but when people complain about tons of bugs, it makes me question their housekeeping habits. Apartment complexes regularly employ exterminators to keep the bugs down. I'd imagine that those who complain about bugs in an apartment are in for a world of surprise when they buy a house, and discover how much work is involved in keeping the bugs away. I'm sorry you had such a negative experience with them, however it seems to me that you have a chip on your shoulder. Everyone has difficult life circumstances, but to imply that your needs are more important/significant than other tenants because of weight and a personal rough patch is self-centered and unrealistic.

He had bugs due to his dog peeing outside on his front porch and in his apartment all over his carpet. It stunk horribly and that attracts bugs. His dog also peed on the neighbor below. He was too lazy to actually take his dog 10 feet to the grass. He would tie his dog to the porch so it would pee all over his neighbors porch below and he flicked the dog poop off the side of the porch on to the sidewalk. It was horrible. We do not send out notices until the 7th day, like all communities. He was never nice to anyone here, ever. He was always very aggressive when he called. Correct, it must be 85 degrees to have maintenance work on A/C. They cannot work on them in the rain nor is it an emergency if it's 60 degress like it was when you called emergency maintenance. Also, Beztak is owned by more than one person. Had you had your facts straight, you would know that. Also there is no such form to sign to not allow maintenance in your apartment. No such form at all. So they are allowed to enter your apartment when you call in a workorder. They work during the day as do most people. Since your current conditions don't allow you to leave home, we really had no choice. Maintenance only comes when called. We wouldn't show up for no reason because there would be no work order in the system. Your comments make no sense whatsoever. Also, current market prices are right in line with everyone else. But since you are not allowed to go far from your home, you may not know that. Best wishes.

I got money????...lol.speaking of teachers, you may need one. You gotta be a sucker???? Dude, are you serious on how you type? If you're going to try and make yourself look good, then learn to speak and type proper English. I live here as well. Everyone knows it's not a security gate. It's a gate house. With a gate attendant. You're a smart guy, or not!!! From a non Citation Club employee...but a resident.

This is obviously from the rental community... lol dont be jealous because you guys make a teachers salary. i got money but then again a good value is a good value. citation club is not a good value. and what thing about a dog i dont even have one??? i have a cat. so nice try. you people need to get a life. im not the only one on this website that is extremely dissatisfied with citation club's practices. you people have whole anti-fan base just on this website alone. lmao. anyone reading this needs to take my word for it if not just test me out on how full of ---- they are. THAT WHOLE NICE GATED SECURITY IN THE FRONT IS A BIG NICE LIE JUST TO GET YOU IN THE DOOR. TAKE A DRIVE BY THERE ANYTIME AND GIVE THE OLD OR OBESE LADY A RANDOM NAME AND I BET THAT SHE LETS YOU IN WITH A BIG SMILE ON HER FACE OR 99% OF THE TIME THEY'LL LET U IN IF U JUST WAVE OR SMILE. LOL SECURITY???? THERE IS NONE, THE ONLY GOOD REVIEWS ON THIS WEBSITE THAT HAS TO DO WITH CITATION CLUB ARE COMING FROM "THEM" OVER AT CITATION CLUB. EVERYONE ELSE ARE HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS LIKE MYSELF WHO JUST WANT WHAT THEY PAID FOR AND DIDNT GET IT. BILLIONAIRE MILLIONAIRE OR JUST AVERAGE> YOU GOTTA BE A SUCKER TO LIVE HERE. CITATION CLUB DOESNT KNOW WHAT "VALUE" MEANS. ITS NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY!!!! -for real reviewers...YOUR WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I have to say is WOW. I live here and it's not bad, but reading the reviews it sounds like someone in the office has a really bad attitude. It NEVER looks good to just say - You're stupid, shut-up. (even if it IS just a whiny resident) it always looks better to say - I'm sorry if you feel we have not done our job, we are always looking for ways to improve, so thank you for informing us of the problem. But the way someone is responding to these posts (clearly one of the staff) it is really embarrassing (coming from a content resident). Hopefully it's not the manager, and she can control whomever is doing it - it's making the place I live seem like it's run by some defensive jerks. BUT otherwise I really like my apartment and (if not for reading all these posts) I am proud of where I live.

I TOTALLY agree with this guy. A total dump. My boyfriend and I are actually counting down the days until our lease is up. And I always have a can of bug spray handy in the apartment.

I have lived here almost a year and CAN NOT WAIT for my lease to be up. That chick Katie is a total ----- and the "security" gate is more of a joke than this apartment complex. They never fix things on time, or show up late when you are in the shower. Do they really think I'd stay here another year...ESPECIALLY since they raise your rent?!!?! You couldn't pay me to live here any longer. NOT WORTH IT. DON'T LIVE HERE.
