My husband got a job transfer to MI and after reviewing several apartmetn communities we decided on Citation Club. We lived there for a couple of years and have recently ( past year and a half) moved back to our suburban Boston home.
We reffered Citation Club to some co-workers of my husband who were replacing him at his company and much to my suprise I got a call from one of their wifes saying she had read the most awful reviews about Citation on this site and wanted to verify that we were infact talking about the same place. Indeed I am.
Our expeirience there was not as bad as some of these reveiws would make you beleive. But in the interes of full dislosure I will briefly give you my assesment of Citation Club.
1. The apart was just what we expected for the price. I think Luxuary is a bit of a stratch, but Citation was a very well maintained community.
2. Speaking of maintance. They were very professional and friendly. It take a few days for requests to be filled but if I remeber correctly there wasn't very many of them and it was a large property.
3. Office staff was curtious, but they always seemed to be in a hury. In fact everytime I walked into the office the phones were non-stop and every seemed to be so rushed. So it was understandable theat they were quick and very matter of fact. Never rude and certainly never disrespectful but very busy.
4. The staff did on the other hand as my 16 year old 6'3" son to leave the gym because he wasn't old enough to be in there. Now I understand saftey and liability concerns but he's 6'3" and plays varsity soccer. He needs to stay in shape. I had been to the gym and saw plenty of minors just hanging out in there so I don't understand. Also the pool is mad house in the summer. Their pool (indoor and outdoor) security is non exsistant and children are allowed to run amock. In fact I had conversations with other residences and they all say that non-residents fill up the pool as soon as the staff leaves. Now I have seen the staff do pool checks but they seem to be out manned and out gunned. The company should've resolved that issue.
5. Security was never a problem. Very safe. In fact I beleive that some of the staff lived on site wich was great to hear. and we never had a problem with our neighbors and noise. I was suprised at this, but pleasantly suprised. Some of children in the community did run-a-muk but thats just the nature of children.
6. Back to the staff. I did have a couple of issues with billing and I found the Manager and accountant to be very helpful and we had the issue resolved with out confrintation. Thank you again (if your're reading)
7. Snow. They shoveled. A lot. They needed more people its that simple. The maintance personal did what they could.
So in closing, its not as bad as these reviews make it out to be. Metro-Detroit is another story. Farmington Hills has no decent private schools in the area, and I'm not familiar with the public schools. You pay for what you get and in this case you get quit a bit.
