I lived in IGA for over a year. I took over a friend's lease...and signed paperwork to do so, yet I was not officially on the lease until months later. Although I was paying the rent, I was not on the lease so I could not get new keys, information etc. without every time having to call and stress again that I WAS ON THE LEASE and the other girl had moved on. Even a month before I moved out I received a birthday sign on my door for the girl who had lived there prior to me.
In the hottest month of this summer, I came to the discovery that the heat was on in our building. No wonder my DTE bill doubled. It took several attempts, but finally I received a credit of $20 which they forgot to take off our rent invoice and we had to call and remind them.
Maintenance fixed the wrong toilet and would not come and fix the right one until Monday I had a urine filled, unflushable toilet. They fixed the wrong shower head. They left tools and garbage every time they were in. They once came in to snake my drain and left my toilet seat up which meant they used it while there which disgusted me!
Upon moving out, I filled out my exit packet as well as forwarding address and dropped off keys. My roomate later got 2 heat bills in the mail. When she called they said your first 2 months of the lease you don't pay for heat. This would make sense if rent were less those months but it wasn't. Also, she got a notice of late payment and eviction. (A month after we had moved out) When she called they said they forgot to put the ticket in, oops! No one knew we had moved out'
Lastly, they allow ANYONE into this place! Our neighbors had their car repossed in the parking lot and try to drive it off the flat bed running into other people's cars. We heard fights, CONSTANT loud music and bass at all hours in the parking lot.I didn't feel safe there. When it looked like our door had been tampered with I called maintenance and he laughed in my face and refused to give us a new lock. He asked why someone would try to get into our place versus someone else's. He said maybe we had enemies and left. What'!
One room has A/C and the other doesn't. Good luck in the summer to the room without it. Leaving your window open only works if you're a heavy sleeper since there is a bass party every night in the parking lot!
Basically this place isn't worth cheaper rent. It is so poorly managed it is more of a headache than anything!
