read here before going in to sign a lease

I don't have anything terrible to say about these apartments. I loved my apartment. I had no bug or mold problems - I was on the 3rd floor. I had no noise problems. I was in the front of the complex (on Halstead) so it wasn't "ghetto" ..although the complex DOES have it's less desirable areas. Big complex so just do your research before choosing which apt you want. Newer carpet and kitchen appliances in my unit, washer/dryer in unit, newer kitchen/bathroom tile and newer windows (some of the units still have the old windows so maybe ask to see one with newer windows - mine were really nice.)
Now for the not-so-desirable aspects ..if you can help it do not sign your lease with a girl named Stephanie. If you do - do not let her tell you she can give you any sort of deal regarding rent, pet fees, etc. If she does - be SURE you tell her then and there to put it in the lease as an "incentive to rent". I made the mistake of taking her word for it and when it came time to move in and sign my lease she was no where to be found so I let another one of the leasing people know about what she had said she would waive. Apparently she didn't have the authority to do this. She was confronted by her manager and she completely denied it RIGHT in front of me. So I ended up paying the regular amount which would have been fine had this been the agreement from the start. The only other thing (which I didn't have to worry about because I wasn't there in the summer) is you pay gas throughout the summertime even though the only thing ran by gas is your heat. ALSO - when I made the appt with Stephanie to sign my lease she was an hour late. How professional right' lol
If you steer clear of these things the only downfall I can see is the paying for heat in the summer when you're not using it. The rent isn't too bad - unless you do a short term lease like I did ..then they charge a bit more. But it's a good place - just a few ridiculous workers. (Maintainence is great and so are some of the other people in the leasing office so don't think I mean ALL workers.) Good luck!!
