I Must Say, I Agree With Everyone Here- Go Elsewhere!

I am a college student, and I needed a cheap place to live.
I chose Independence Green because they offered me a good deal on rent.

Terrible decision.

I live on the third floor directly across from the leasing office.
When I was shown an apartment, they turned down my credit check after telling me that having NO credit wasn't a problem/it would only decline with BAD credit.
Later that day they leased the apartment that I had signed an application for away- as I was calling the credit company to dispute my report. The next day I was shown the apartment I am in now. The lock on the door is broken so as you have to wiggle the door back and forth to get the right angle while you turn the key, which needs to be only 3/4 of the way in the lock, otherwise it gets stuck and won't turn. My leasing agent told me this would be fixed the very next day... Obviously has not, since this was two months ago. My countertop in the bathroom is lemon yellow, as is the tiling in the shower. This tiling also has a crack leading the entire length of the tub, and the tiles on both connecting walls. Wonderful.

I read reviews before I moved in and just assumed people were upset about rent prices- after all, I am getting a nice chunk of rent discounted each month. They do, in fact, have bed bugs. I have had to go buy Caladryl lotion to ease the itching.

In the bedroom, all of the outlets have a top and bottom outlet. Not a single one of the top ones works. I can only assume it is faulty wiring.

My parking area is directly connected to the maintenance office. There is parking on both sides of the lot, and somehow my third-floor corner apartment doesn't deserve a space at night. This is less the complex and more the neighbors being -------s. I have to park across two lots and walk in the dark to my building.

Counter space in the kitchen in minimal. I have a one bedroom, so the kitchen is tiny, and that is fine. The thing is, I have a stove and refrigerator on one wall and a sink with counters on each side on the other. My microwave takes up an entire side of the counter. I have literally one square foot to prepare all my meals and place dishes.

The heater in the bathroom was painted shut, and the cleaning crew did not even bother to wipe off the dried up urine spots on it. There is long black hair painted into the wall next to the door there, as well. The medicine cabinet has sliding doors made only of glass which refuse to slide and frequently break pieces off at the corners from unexpected jumps when I open or close them.

I did get new carpet, but from the rest of this place I can only imagine what it must have looked like to be changed out. The place was not vacuumed underneath the baseboard-style water heaters and I frequently find potato chip pieces and cigarette butts... although I signed a paper requesting a smoke-free apartment. Hmm.

I could go on and on, but I really don't recommend living here.
Even as a college student, this is degrading.

completely agree. Only I am paying almost 800 a month for rent and gas which is included being a college student as well. I am out in January and cant wait! This place is a hell hole. Everything you have written I have experienced as well. My counters were falling apart-maintenace reurnished them two weeks after I moved-stained everything in mt modern style furniture filled apartment with white enamel spray. no refund. It took over two weeks to get the nauseating fumes and paint off of my new furniture. Maintenace is a joke. They lie to you in the leasing office. I have learned you must go through corporate to get anything such as BOTH of my patio doors to actually lock since the bars are missing and handles broken off, locks on them are sized for smaller doors leaving me unprotected. Oh yeah, and the "extra lock-that chain over your deadbolt" yeah mine fell out of my wall in the first month I was here. still not fixed. Stay out of this place!
